and before the "p.c. brigade and holier than thou" lot kick off if gay people refer to hetrosexual people as straight ( and i include a lot of gay friends of mine) surely we can refer to them as bent
While I get your point, how often is the term 'straight' used as an insult in comparison to the term 'bent'? Think that's what makes it incorrect.
The sad thing about the whole gay marriage debate is the fact that there actually is a debate. Embarrassing.
Why have they 'captured' the good English word 'gay'? Peter Tatchell could hardly be called that the sour faced poofter. They are sodomites and should be called thus. If they want to have a penis stuck up their rectum for their sexual gratification, and spend their old age using tampons to prevent excreta falling out of their colon, that's up to them. But there is no way they should be invited to what I was educated to be, the sacrament of marriage. Namely the uniting of a man and woman to procreate. This is something sodomites and their female counterparts can never do. I do not believe that they should be discriminated against or burnt at the stake as in the 13th Century, however I do not believe they should hi-jack the vows of marriage.
i'm not bothered either way, each to their own and please ignore any pun 'cos, well yes they were intended but i think live and let live just leave me alone
Erm actually I think you'll find the church hijacked marriage. It existed before religion saw on opportunity to make money from it. So it isn't a sacremental right. A vicar told me that.
Let them crack on.. (no pun intended). it isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to straight couples getting married so why not I say. I also agree that the term 'bent' is fine to use. Only when its used in a derogatory way it becomes offensive.
That ,Sacrament of marriage between a man and a woman ,is of course crap .Whats the current divorce rate?
Its nothing to do with a closet or being homophobic, I just don't agree with the concept at all. Maybe I'm old fashioned or maybe my beliefs around marriage are a little bit right wing but I believe that a marriage is about a union between a man and a woman. I thought that a 'civil partnership' struck the right balance but this is a step too far. I strongly believe that the church should be allowed to make their own judgement on this issue and if it ends up as legislation I think its only a matter of time before the church is challenged over its stance.
Yes quite right and the marriage act doesn't state a unity between a man and a woman but it assumes it. Anyway this is not about the law in my opinion, its a moral argument about the sanctity of marriage which I believe is a unity between a man and a woman.
