He will be in demand for sure. See how the club reacts given we have a plan to build a youthful team for the future.
Thats how BFC survive.......selling players at a profit, whether these be players we have purchased, or, kids we have brought through Academy. The key is always nailing the right price/value.
i said flippantly after his 3rd goal for us - 'gone for 500k in january'. will be interesting to see what happens. that said, two goals in a drubbing are neither here nor there to me
Thats the worry, as you say, history proves we have been quick to cash in at low value. Hopefully, with our new (ish) commercial leadership, we drive a better deal.
I might be proved wrong on this but I really don't think he will. For the first time in ages we've really got no incentive to sell, and have a really strong bargaining position. We are within our budget for the year so aren't desperately financially to sell. We've got an owner who has clearly demonstrated he's investing in the squad for the long term, he's not going to be desperate to see a return on investment in a player within 6 months. We've got a player tied to a 3 year contract with no release clause, so it's not like he can walk away in the summer. Finally, were going out of our way to bring the right type of lads in, ones that want to be here and invest their future in the club, not see us as a short term stepping stone. All in all, I can't see one reason why we'd need to sell him. If there's interest, for the first time in ages we can afford to tell people to get stuffed. Even if the worse happened and he did go, it would be on our terms for substantial money. This situation is not at all like the ones we've found ourselves in over and over again in recent years, because for once we've had the foresight to find a gem for low money and put him on a long contract. All credit must go to Danny and Ben for that.
Why would he have a release clause? This isn't standard practice. We only gave one to Hammill because it was the only way to get him here. The situation for an unproven player, who we didn't have to compete with a number of other clubs for, making the step up from League 2 is totally different.
I had a 30 minute chat with Ben Mansford yesterday, I will relay back what was said when I can shake off this hangover and be arsed to blog. But Conor won't be flogged for 500k, unless Ben was lying to me.
Agree with you, Clubs won't risk the type of money we would want to release him on sixmonths form.imo
Sorry I missed you mate, I will get you that drink I promise. Had a chat to Dyson and Cunning Stunt. Hicksy was a good laugh with the toast too!
Wait til you read my blog. Pretty ashamed of myself yesterday truth be told. Wake up call I think. Need to rein it in a bit. Trainers are still shocking white though.
