That's very disturbing. Hopefully the cops' body cameras will clear things up and the officers will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There are massive issues with how police power is fettered in the states and how police go unpunished, but I don't understand what the article's issue is with the "reasonable perception of threat" test. I can't see what other test could be applied.
Coppers cameras "fell off." Funny huh? Doesn't need clearing up anyway, footage shows them executing an unarmed man on the floor with his hands behind his back.
Didn't it say he did have a gun, and his right arm is not visible. I am not for one second advocating any shooting of unarmed innocent men. However I'm not sure whether we know all the facts. If the bloke pulled out a gun with his right hand then they were right to shoot him weren't they? Def problem with racism in American police it would seem. Number of these kinds of incidents is scary. Number of gun crimes in America is horrific in general
Can't see any report saying he had a gun in his hand. Reports police pulled one out of his pocket after they had shot him.
uou don't have to be the brightest to be a copper in the US. They're shoot first ask questions later policy also doesn't really help
While it is terrible that yet again America's refusal to say no to guns has led to another rather and at first glance it looks very very bad on the police in question I have to point out that yet again as with virtually every one of these 'black lives master's protest causing deaths we are talking about a convicted felon with a string of offences to his name with a gun physically resisting arrest. Funny how you never hear of a black guy getting shot by police only for it to turn out the guy had no criminal past and was complying fully with the instructions of a police officer. It just doesn't seem to happen, it's always the convicted felons resisting arrest. Besides the gun was reported to be in his pocket on the side that you can't see his arm. It isn't a huge leap to suggest that he could be reaching for that bun with that arm is it? The officer shouting he's got a gun certainly seems a bit panicked
Facts about alton sterling Registered child sex offender Locked up for illegal gun possession previously Criminal record for violent behaviour and assault Illegally carrying a gun on the night he was shot Police called out to specific reports of him threatening with a gun Physically resisted arrest The above are cold hard facts. I'd have been dealing myself if I was a police officer who saw a gun and saw him reach towards it (if indeed he did) and he would have had a hell of a lot more bullets in him than he presently does.
You should read this and watch the video, if your stomach can take it. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...a-gun-when-baton-rogue-police-killed-him.html
None of this is relevant because the video shows him on the ground, pinned down, no gun in his hand. What you're doing is using facts produced after the event to justify his execution. As I said above, read the link. The petrol station owner says all we need to hear.
Also it was one of the officers who shouted "he's got a gun" when he clearly didn't have a gun. 588th person to be killed by police in the US this year.
He did have a gun but it doesn't appear on the video like he was in a position to use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He did have a gun. It was in his right pocket, next to his right arm that you see. The one you have no idea if it is moving towards he gun or not. You'll notice I said IF he is reaching for the gun
Yes, it was in his pocket. Not his hand, his pocket. Millions of Americans have guns, are you suggesting they shoot everyone they arrest 'just in case they move their arm in the direction of their pockets'?
Not 48 hours after, this happens.. http://www.startribune.com/aftermath-of-officer-involved-shooting-captured-on-phone-video/385789251/ #blacklivesmatter
Just seen the video. https://twitter.com/Adore_Yonaa/status/750937085201244160 Sent from my X5pro using Tapatalk
There is a difference between a random person moving their arm and a convicted gun felon illegally carrying a gun at a call out for that man threatening with a gun
