Not even getting a game for Peterborough now. Unused sub yesterday. They haven't won a game when Moncur has started the match and he's only tasted victory with them once. He came on as a 73rd minute sub when they were already 3-1 up against Bury. Not sure how we're going to recoup the money we paid for him, if that was the plan when we let him go. Can't see Peterborough wanting to pay anything like what we spent on him for someone who sits on the bench. And if he returns he's going to struggle to dislodge Hourihane, Morsy or Scowen, midfield players who look very comfortable in the Championship while Moncur is struggling with league 1. Maybe he's just out of form. I can't imagine his dad insisting he plays is doing him any favours.
still early doors, but smoke signals suggest we made a right **** up bringing him and his mate in. cost us a few quid that. had we not landed the stones and alfie money, i think there would be a much bigger deal made outta this.
Everyone to a man on here and posters from his former clubs hailed the signing. It has backfired thus far but it's early days yet. Dean Saunders and a couple more ex current managers were on Talksport last week. All said if you get 50% or more 'success rate' with your signings you're doing well. Players not settling, not as good as stats show, lose form etc. Applying that logic I'd say we're on 80-90% or thereabouts. Moncur and Son may be regretting the move/request for footballing reasons and may ask to return?!? He may aswell be on our bench as a L1 one. We'll see.
If he'd remained here he'd have got a crack at the 1st XI Hopefully he's thinking on at the minute and comes back more attuned to what's rewuired Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's all down to the player's attitude now. If he's got any sense he'll realise he has to earn the right to be in the team and drop the 'big time Charlie' act. If he hasn't, then he'll continue to think he should start every game without earning the right. Hopefully this experience will teach him a bit of humility and he'll come back, work hard in training and look to make the most of any opportunities that come his way. Also tell his dad to keep his nose out. Always seemed a bit of a strange signing as doesn't really fit into our style of play. He's not a forward, not a centre mid and not an out and out winger. Seems more of a number 10 which is ok for 4-2-3-1 but not how we play the 4-4-2. I assumed Hecky may have been thinking of switching to more of a 4-4-1-1 away from home to bolster the midfield and stop it getting over run. That said, Watkins isn't an out and out winger but was fantastic yesterday as he works so hard for the team. Maybe Moncur should have a good long look at Marley and learn from his attitude. Signed by Cryne, but never fit into our system, so Hecky was like "what do I do with him?" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Completely forgot about him, thanks for the reminder. It would be great if every signing we made turned out to be brilliant, but back in the real world they won't, not at Barnsley and not at any club, even in the cash pot league. We've done OK on average with the signings we've made.
For me, if he does return to the club in January, and the indications from Peterborough are that he will, then the onus is on him to prove to Hecky & his team mates he's worth a place in the first team squad before even being considered for a spot in the starting line up. This group of players have earned that right (and the respect of the fans) with their displays this season. Moncur hasn't, so far.
His attitude stinks and judging by how he was on twitter after the loan move he's keen to blame everyone but himself when things aren't going too well. Weak character that I'd rather not have around the dressing room. Bad egg. We still have an excellent recent record when it comes to transfers they won't all be winners.
With how quick we were to get him out of the club you have to wonder if we got the watered down story, it seems it's very important to us to have a close knit group and it sounds like he doesn't fit in.
I think a lot of our fans wanted us to sign him on a decent performance against us at Oakwell. I remember Colchester fans coming on and saying he went missing when things aren't going well. Seems they were correct.
Think we just need to welcome him back and start with a clean slate. If he plays to his potential he will be class and if he'd stuck around he wouldn't have had to wait too long to get in the team. His behaviour really annoys me but if he plays when he comes back if he gives his all I'll forgive him; I'd certainly hope he wouldn't get booed or anything when next in the squad, and I doubt that will happen As for Lee, he was a free transfer and also has plenty of potential so I think we just need to give them time and hopefully we'll see their true value. If not, I'm sure there are plenty of League One and Two clubs who would be willing to take them off our hands
