    Article from newsnow:-
Barnsley have activated a clause to sign Wigan midfielder Sam Morsy on a permanent basis according to reliable journalist, Sean Taylor.

Morsy has spent the beginning of this season on loan with Barnsley and has impressed, which has lead to Paul Heckingbottom wanting to make the deal permanent.

The former Chesterfield midfielder only arrived at Wigan in January, but just a year on, he looks set to leave the struggling Latics to join The Tykes, who are pushing for a play off spot.

A fee has been agreed between the two clubs, with personal terms the final hurdle before Morsy officially becomes a Barnsley player

    It also states:-

The 25-year-old was one of League One’s brightest prospects last year and his singing was met with great expectation from Wigan fans, but he has failed to reach the heights Latics fans expected.

I wonder what he was "singing" - maybe ....I want to sign for Barnsley.

A spelling mistake in a post mocking a spelling mistake within a post that was itself moving another spelling mistake. It's like the Russian dolls of bad spelling

Ravel Morrison training with Wigan - he's available on a free from Lazio after playing four games in two years for them.

Another good reason for Sam to leave Wigan!

i still can't get my head round this, despite people's best efforts to explain. everyone is saying we have activated a clause and offered the agreed fee, but he's still with wigan and we haven't heard anything back from them. what's causing the hold up then? i can't imagine it's personal terms. it wouldn't take a week for those to be agreed or not

There might be some sort of termination clause to settle? He might have thought he was entitled to 500 pies when he left?

Any deal is not done till it is done..

yeah but, no but, yeah but ......

I know where your coming from but allegedly the deal WAS done several months ago. It should matter not one jot if somebody else has come in?

    Maybe?

Wigan are bound to accept our offer but there is nothing stopping them accepting a bid from another club. If another club came in and Wigan accepted the fee it would then be down to Morsy to decide between us and the other club based on personal terms.

So although Wigan can't prevent the deal from going through, it might be in Morsy's interests to delay agreeing terms with us to see if any other offers come in.

It doesn't matter. We've activated the release clause/permanent transfer option we had on him when we signed him on loan.

The only issue would be if hypothetical other club were prepared to pay him more.

Can't another club offering more than the release clause, there'd be no reason to do that, just offer the same and you are entitled to speak with them. Might be another club offering more to Sam in personal terms though. Just because he's playing well with a team flying high doesn't mean he's guaranteed to sign with us. Someone might be offering a lot more wages which means the lad has a decision to make.

He might want a release clause in his contract with us, that we don't want.

None of these deals are cut and dried unfortunately.

....... which would eliminate any potential ludicrous situation of him completing his permy move to us, then upping sticks the same day.
