Problem here, there are teams thinking big with £20m a year from parachute payments, and able to lose £39m over 3 seasons being propped up by multi millionaires and billionaires.

    Only 3 can go up.

Our owners pockets arent big enough to gamble and he's written off millions already.

Is it ambition to gamble with the possibility you'll bust a club out of existence?

Talking about the club and how it's continually ran not the chairman and his isoft business as there's obviously massive separation between the two for all to see .

Just 3 ambitious clubs I can think of. Also hundreds of millions in debt.

We had a chance, and I'll say had, especially if ch is out the door for a few million, to maybe get into the playoffs this season, to ride the wave built by the manager and his players for what would amount to not a massive hurt in finances as I see it. People keep throwing this running at a loss argument forward, that's from two years ago with predictions that don't account for the £15 mill or so we've had in since so that holds no water with me anymore I'm afraid. We are blowing it yet again, fire-sale at jokwell is now on! Ffs!
Wtf is football about if the club don't want to achieve to be the best they can be?
This opportunity is being lost for a few quid to make the accounts look rosey as I see it and that's it.
As I've said many times, 'same old Barnsley'

Of course we could keep all these players.

We could offer new deals that get nowhere close to what other clubs can afford. And we could lose huge numbers of players for zero fee in the summer.

There's many ifs and buts. But this is the decision.... do you cash in on the out of contract ones knowing they won't resign and at least you can use that money to acquire now or in the summer.... or do you hope that you get into the playoffs and win, but risk zero income from fees in the summer.

Patrick stated last year we lost about £1m. We get around £5-6m extra this year. We get the money from Stones and Mawson (you do know its common practice that transfer fees are paid in batches, sometimes over the length of a players contract, so its unlikely we have a £15m war chest swilling around).

If we pay 1 player £10k a week. Thats £520k a year. Plus bonuses. Obviously we've lots of other costs not just player wages. So you can see it takes very little to tip us into a loss when our turnover is likely to be £10-12m before transfer income.

We've also paid fees for MacDonald, Jackson, Kpekawa, Bradshaw, Moncur. (Cant recall if Yiadom was out of contract). There are also loan fees payable to clubs nowadays which can be a decent chunk of money. We have several loans.

Its surprising how quickly multimillions can get eaten up in this ridiculous industry that its become.

Question for Patrick. How are we hemorrhaging money so badly?

Yes I agree to an extent but we are a stuck record at this level cept for that one season and then the one under Bassett. It is ridiculous but it's also a crying shame to see this team dismantled like this on the cusp of something that could be great. For me, whoever sorts the players contracts out has a lot to answer for, as we seem to get loved dry every single season at this level.

    Correct sir.

We might as well fold and have done with it. Otherwise what is the point? Football is about winning, being the best you possibly can be.

Hourihane likely leaving, Watkins allegedly wants out, Norwich very keen on MacDonald and Scowen would definitely be off back down South if offered the right opportunity... and all we've done is bring in one loan yet some on here are telling us not to panic!! It's a ******* shambles off the field!!

So a reporter says something, you all believe it and all of a sudden Watkins wants out....

What about Hammill commenting about how good the team spirit was, hardly players wanting out. Why would they, it's the highest they've been in their careers. This board adds more fuel to complete ****** than Twitter does.

I doubt we've been drip fed the Mawson money, especially not over a length of a contract period if we are losing money each season. Also take into account the increase in attendances, up four thousand and the average ticket price over £25 so far with big pay days against Newcastle, Villa and Leeds, Huddersfield and Wednesday to come. We'll also probably hit the appearances mark for more more coming in for Holgate this season. It'll be interesting reading when the accounts are released any way.
