Interesting that you believe that making tax avoiding companies pay their taxes. Paying employees a wage they can live off and penalising absolutely atrocious employers is the ' politics of envy'
It's all relative really 70k a year sounds a lot but it all depends on circumstances of the individual earning it . There seems to be so much critiscism of anybody who earns a decent crust . Its not against the law to work hard and get paid well for it .
Wow, I didn't think it would be possible to misrepresent what I said there quite as much as you managed. Well done.
I say what I see mate. Just because you don't see something doesn't mean it doesn't underscore your comments. Changes in taxation would impact me. If monies were used to improve the NHS, stop our school imploding and pay people a decent wage I'd be more than happy to pay. My missus runs a SME she can afford to pay people a living wage and still make a profit. If it's such an issue to keep the people you employ above the absolute minimum poverty line possibly you shouldn't be employing them. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
Just a question, but does that profit if divided by the number of hours worked put her at a figure above the national living wage ?
Yes she does ok. She doesn't earn a massive amount more than the people who work with her. She would rather run her own business which allows us to manage kids/home life better than pursuing her previous career that was financially rewarding but not good for us as a family
People speak about the nhs I remember under the last labour government in Wakefield a labour strong hold, baulfor beatty were paid to build the new pinderfields hospital. The nhs do not own the hospital, the trust lease it back from balfor beatty and have a 35 year lease on the building the trust is crippled same with ponty hospital although balfor beatty have sold their part in it now. http://www.pontefractandcastleforde...-pontefract-hospitals-1-6874933#comments-area
People speak about the NHS because it is absolutely being run into the ground in a quite deliberate way. You don't employ a person who authored a book in favour of privatising the NHS to lead it unless you have a clear agenda. My friends within the NHS are at absolute breaking point. Doctors and nurses leaving in droves. You won't know what you had til it's gone. The PFI schemes brought in by Blair and his cronies were ***** and paved the way for the current endemic. Luckily the LP led by Corbin rejects it. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
My wife works for the nhs of course I want more nhs funding I don't trust the torys with the nhs but I thought what happened to my local hospital under labour was appalling hence why I pointed it out.
You've conveniently side stepped what I said - bad employers and companies are in the cross hairs. Those that contribute and play their part in the cohesive running of society aren't. For example, required more equal pay for companies delivering government contracts as well as require investment them to pay suppliers on time are just two friendly measures that reward businesses. Add to that business rates reform so stop it being slanted in the favour of large out of town stores. In fact, as it stands today, Spreadsheet Phil is talking of raising taxes. The other thing you mention is the the emphasis put on the likes of Green and Ashley. It might have media emphasis but in general HMRC is woefully underfunded in the fight against tax avoidance and evasion.
On the subject of business and government, I'd like to see an end to government contracts being awarded to companies that employ staff offshore to do the work. It might look cheaper but the unseen costs aren't measured. All systems storing personally identifiable data should also be managed entirely onshore - both government and provate companies.
You're right. It was New Labour continuing the Tory policy of PFI. All I can say is that isn't something Corbyn has ever supported.
Anyone seen the potential effects on education of the current tory policies? Apparently the budget of Wath comp will be down over £800k meaning 23 less teachers. Expect similar at all other state schools.
Apparently Britains second largest daily paper (the one banned in Liverpool) is warning that 150,000+ jobs are at risk in the UK car industry after Brexit due to tariffs increasing the cost of finished vehicles significantly...
I have indeed. I have also seen the flip side of it in an academy where no money will be spent on anything as it is run for profit. The state school I worked in always seemed to have enough money to cover things that were needed but in the academy everything is refused due to costs. The academy is run very much like a business and is reluctant to spend on anything as it hits their pockets, in state school if you didn't spend it you lost it so all money was spent.
No thought necessary here. Voted to remain, the intelligent choice, will vote Conservative, again.....
Corbyn has promised an enquiry into the Battle of Orgreave in his speech at the TUC Congress in Aviemore.
