Matty is a player who's good enough to play in the Premier league in my opinion and sadly, we'll not have that luxury again unless it's a short term loan deal.

But it's the sort if permanent signing that could take us from being mid table hopefuls to top 6 contenders.

He's too good for us, and too expensive, so we can only dream.

Mid table hopefuls is a tad hopeful in my opinion. Even with him in the side we were in free fall. Still plenty of time and we have made some good signings. Still difficult to see anything but a season of struggle though.

I think the problem in January was that the players we brought in seemed to just plug gaps. I suppose Matty James can be included in that despite the fact that he had an obvious quality. Hedges and Elder came in late in the day. If you listen to the interviews with the players we've signed already, at least 2 of them have been targets since at least January. Which makes me think that we failed to bring in the players we wanted and got the next best thing. I'd say that is part of the reason for our free fall, not adequately replacing the gaps left mainly by Winnall and Hourihane.

We finished mid table last season, despite our poor form in the 2nd half. If we address that adequately I don't see any reason for us to finish any lower this time around. The fact that we're seemingly recruiting the targets we wanted in January, will be a good indicator of what could potentially have been last season had we managed to pull them off then.

We're obviously still lacking in some areas (up front mainly), but I suppose there's still 5/6 weeks until the start of the season.

I believe we would have gone for him if Millwall hadn't got promotion.

Matty James would be an amazing signing, no chance though. We need strikers desperately - I'd get 3 in.
