A couple a posters on little donny rovers sites reckon a fee has been agreed for him from us. Nothing been confirmed as of yet tho. Personally reckon he could be decent, top scorer and player of season for lg2. Worth a go i reckon.

Based on the little I've seen of him I'm not his biggest fan. Hope I'm proven wrong though. And dont think there are many other permanent options out there.

Incredibly hard worker. Just hasn't done it at this level in the past though which is my main concern.

Realistically though, within the budget we're operating, he's probably as proven a goalscorer as we're going to get.

Hopefully he'll be the foil to get the best out of Bradshaw.

Article by Ashley Ball in Fridays Chronicle reads " Heckingbottom would not say whether Doncaster Rovers
frontman John Marquis, who has turned down a new deal, was a target but admitted he would be keen to
bring back West Ham's Ashley Fletcher on loan." Read into that what you will.
I personally think we'll get both but as others have already said, it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

you'd like to think our midfield could supply the ammo for him to carry on where he left off last season......as could as we can get for the budget

Some beauty posts on here including a guy who takes the friendlies seriously and someone who thinks we could have £30 million to spend but we only pay up to £1700 a week wages. I think he was saying last season how much we were losing each season and pointing out at every opportunity we had no CEO. How things have changed..

Craig Davies hadn't. He'd never broken any pots at any team then did pretty well with us after one good season at promoted Chesterfield

    Similar situation to be honest

I would hope this would only be a squad player, certainly not our main goal threat. Underwhelming.

I like the one who says he won't earn more as we only pay around same wages as them. Deluded fans..

In fairness, Marquis was only very young when playing in this division for Millwall. Just come off the back of a highly successful season with Rovers so will be in good shape to kick on with us, if he signs.

    8 in 21 for Gillingham
    6 in 15 for Northampton
    26 in 45 at Donny

The lad has been loaned out multiple times from a young age. Not settled until last year.

If we sign him I'll support him and be excited to watch how much further our coaches can help develop him.

Craig Davies was 25 with 1 decent season behind him

Sam Winnall was 23 with one decent season behind him, and a successful loan spell with Burton 3 years previous.

Ricardo Vaz Te was 25 and had 0 decent seasons behind him.

I won't be dancing from the rooftops if we sign Marquis but let's not write him off straight away.

There isn't unfortunately I've just copied what was printed. He has confirmed McBurnie is on the radar and interest in
    Blackpool's Potts has cooled.
It says we are exploring the loans market but will not break the bank for new signings. Hecky has said " We have always
been good at bringing in. We may have missed some but we are going to be out bid in terms of finance. I am not going
to get upset about that. There is no evidence to say that we do splash the money. There is no evidence that we will pay over
the odds for a player. We are in a position now that anyone we sign will bolster the squad. We don't go for players we think we
can't afford. It would be pointless."
Regarding loans Hecky comments " Clubs have also not made decisions on which players they are going to let out and
that's your loan market. Your permanent market is similar.
We are never going to go and blow someone away with the offer that we make for them because we can't do that.
We need to make sure that we are realistic with our money and look after it. We will get the players. I am pushing to get
the right players and that is more important than getting one in tomorrow who is not right.
I am pleased with what we have got and what we have done but we need more. We have got to work our socks off to get the ones that we want but everyone's doing the same.
We know that we are not going to have a big squad so the players that we do bring in have to make a difference.
There are usually chain reactions when it comes to Premier League clubs so they make take a while.
Any permanents we need to do we have to push and get them done as soon as possible.
Heckingbottom knows that the lack of strikers is impacting on the ability to experiment in pre-season games with different
formations saying " We need to get players in because then we can start in earnest working with a squad of players.
The difficult thing at the minute is that we are nowhere in terms of "bodies".
The under 23's are getting a great opportunity with us in terms of game time but in all due respect they are not going to be
starting the season unless someone really does stake a claim in the next few games. We are a long way from having the
squad we are going to need and at the minute we can only play with a shape that involves a single striker."

Elsewhere Lloyd Isgrove has confirmed he was poised to join us in January but unfortunately a niggling injury
prevented that from happening. " There was a chance to come back (in January) but it couldn't happen.
It's similar to before apart from the players changing nothing else has changed. I spoke to a few clubs but Barnsley has
always been in my head. The fans were really good to me when I was here and after I had left.
That does help and I knew that when I came the fans would be on my side. I have to prove to them again that I am worthy
of them wanting me. I'd been at Southampton since I was nine so this is a big move for me.
I am actually looking forward to being at a club where I am really wanted and where I am playing some games."
