Why has he become the whipping boy?

He is younger than both Pinnock and Macdonald yet he plays with most maturity.

He has played in just 12 Championship games. Macdonald has played 41.

Macdonalds head was all over the place yesterday and he didn't display the attributes of a captain both when Ipswich ramped up the pressure after half time or how he dealt with Joe Garners wind ups.

I am not saying Jackson is perfect because he is not. But he is certainly not as bad as people are making out. In our last 2 home games his display yesterday was the best of the CB's.

I know everyone gets excited at new signings and wants them to be brilliant and the next big thing but until Pinnock can win headers he is just not ready. If Jackson had put in Pinnocks performance on Tuesday night I dread to think what would have been written on here.

Let the lad have the same chance Macdonalds had because at the minute he looks the better of the 2.

I thought he was alright yesterday, more so than MacDonald, but he's a bit lightweight for a centre back. I miss Robbo :(

Lightweight, not a competitor. He might win headers but he doesn't power them away, they generally go anywhere.

But why is he getting all the stick?

Someone suggested he be sent out on loan earlier. Why Jackson and not Pinnock? Not reasoning behind it.

The reason Pinnock isn't getting stick is that he's played 1 game.

Yes but the stick towards Jackson is unbalanced. He's hardly played himself.

I agree with you in a sense, however everyone is entitled to their opinion. He could do with a run of games in the side, but can we afford that if we're conceding goals at such an alarming rate. U fortunately I haven't seen any of our games yet this season so I can't really pass comment on individual performances this year. We'll probably have the same issues with Pinnock and even Lindsay in the back line until we get a balanced centre half pairing playing together consistently.

Agree - Jackson looks more solid than Angus. Some folks just like to gang up players and that becomes the "received wisdom" unless challenged..

For me Chris he's okay when the oppo strikers small like Brentford away when he was very good but when there's any one with a bit of strength he's struggling. Haven't a clue why he aren't seeing pinnock. Very strange from Heckingbottom I think.

Personally I think Jackson is a liability, but then again Angus is nowhere near experienced enough to be captain. Who else could we have given it to considering the nature of our squad. It looks a bloody mess yet again.

We saw Pinnock against Morecambe and he didn't do enough to keep himself in the side. He was awful on the night mainly because of the amount of headers he lost.

Jackson seems to lack any real strength. He's ok against smaller forwards but when he comes up against pace and aggression he seems to melt. Angus looks to be weighted down by the captaincy and missing Roberts. When Lindsay is fit it will be him and one other at the back. Not sure who that other should be. Jackson would seem to be the weakest of the CHs to me. He's a young lad with plenty of potential to develop. Maybe He would be better to do so on loan at a lower level where mistakes won't be punished so frequently.

What makes Jackson weaker than Pinnock?

My viewings of Pinnock are non existent so I cannot comment on that. I presume if we thought Jackson was the better player we wouldn't have felt the need to spend half a million plus on a player to replace him. Jackson is one of the weakest in terms of physical strength I've seen playing in the position. Again doesn't mean he cannot improve but whether it's best to do so in the harsh glare of the Championship is a different matter.

We didn't sign Pinnock to replace Jackson. We needed 4 centre backs to give competition for places and provide cover.

Pinnock is very similar build to Jackson but at the minute far weaker in the air. Obviously we've seen something in him that gives us confidence he can be developed.

I'd loan one or both out and bring in a quality loan player.

I'm not sure we are the type of club to spend that sort of money on a reserve player. Could be wrong obviously but can't see us sanctioning spending more than half a million quid on 'cover'.

Why isn't he starting then despite being fully fit?

Need an experienced CB.Like McShane. Either loan or 1 yr contract. Hopefully by end of season some of these lads will be ready to take over.
