He wants Barnsley FC to be able to pay for itself. The club doesnt have a fan base that can generate millions. All the money we have is coming DIRECTLY from Cryne and selling players. Why is it so hard for everyone to understand

I will get behind them Red Rain, I always do, home and away and I'm not going to change in that respect but am I not allowed a little wishful thinking? It's what's being a fan is all about.

Perhaps the strategy is all about financial survival and waiting for the rest to be eaten by the current gluttony.
As you used to say. Football is sh*t.

You mean bought our place .

A good quiz question though ....
Which team have missed out on attaining top tier status by
points , goal difference , a play off final defeat and by a ballot ?

It could only happen to us .

What about the 6 million TV money? All this about we wouldn't survive with out the PC contribution. I'd like to know how the 48 teams in league 1 and 2 manage on lower crowds and significantly lower income.

Up to this summer I had sympathy for the 'plan' - as unconvinced as I was that we set off with this particular m.o. in mind - we suddenly found ourselves with very saleable assets and so cashed in. It's my opinion that we signed what we could afford (not a problem with that that) - and it's a combination of scouting, ability and coaching that they became the players they did.

However the sale of Marc Roberts has killed my pig - that lad would have stopped with us, and the spin that he wanted £20k pw and so on and so forth has just added to my malaise - we decided to sacrifice a commanding Championship standard centre half for cash now, because if we'd kept him another 3 years his resale value would have been much reduced.

That leaves Hecky et al trying to mould Pinnock, Lindsay into a replacement (although I have high hopes of Lindsay) - I hope that if this doesn't come about then the revenue from Roberts' sale cushions the blow. But the whole episode has shown me what we're about now, and it's not football imho.

We wouldn't have made the play offs last season anyway, Im only guessing but I think we'd have slipped a bit and still finished inside the top 10.
Winnall more or less made it clear he wanted away and its the same now with Yids, and I don't blame us as a club for selling these players when they've made it clear they don't want to play for us.
I do believe though that Hourihanne would have seen his contract out and still made the effort for us till the end, he was always that sort of professional. The fact that Yids is now even being talked about as a Premship player though is unbelievable, hes barely just left Barnet in Lg Two and now he thinks hes summat special.
What I do mind however is when we sell these players we aren't replacing them with anybody as good, or rather, we aren't replacing them with anybody and giving them a chance to be as good. Remember those players needed a few seasons to get to the levels they reached, and this ridiculous 'plan' right now means selling everybody who shows an ounce of talent even if it just 6 months into the 3 year contract.
We as fans still like to cheer on certain favourites and have their names put on our replica shirts etc. but all that is being taken away now because no players are being allowed to stay long enough to become fan favourites.

Its this opinion that really grinds my gears. We sold 3 players who's contracts were running out in the summer. It was the difference in receiving around 6mil or losing them in the summer for £0 (see Watkins and Scowen).

Do you seriously think if we'd have kept Winnall he'd have continued to be the model professional and banged in the goals? - No chance. He'd have rotted on the bench/in the reserves.

Conor would have remained the model professional - but who would have been putting in the goals that he'd assisted prior to January. It wouldn't have been Sam.

    Lets be honest..

One didn't want to play for us.
One was an average right back.
One was a Barnsley hero who wouldn't have got us into the play offs by himself (as much as he'd have tried).
