Yep. That's why we have cancelled a couple of contracts on 31 January before so that the player is free to find a new club at their leisure.

Must try harder nudge. That's not even close to being true.

I've noticed you positioning yourself as more and more controversial. Maybe you saw a gap in the market to post antagonistic tripe to garner attention? Have a go at the club at all such opportunities?

Anyway, they've obviously redefined dwarfism if the strikers are only an inch taller as looking at the stats thiam depending on where you look is the shortest at 5'10" or 5'11, with both Bradshaw and Ugbo 6'0".

Plus, as many have said but you haven't acknowledged, even at 6'2" mcburnie isn't the strong tall target man you bleat on about. He's a finisher. I'm not saying we couldn't have done with him, he looks a good player, but with his build Thiam looks physically stronger so potentially a better bet holding up the ball with his back to goal, and as for height I wouldn't want them lumping it up in the air anyway.

It's a loss but to conclude its catastrophic is pushing it

Im sure most clubs have a process that's pretty good. The issue is that the process doesn't take overall control and many other factors influence it. The domino effect is amplified during a window as we saw with McB.

Nudger is really tall and in my opinion because of this he has some kind of complex whereby he feels he has to try to convince everyone that tall is best to make himself feel better in some way. He does it all the time and one of his favourite lines is 'a good big man beats a good little man every time'. As you can see his reverse little man syndrome is evident in this thread.

I still don't know what the fuss was about either with McB, so Im not too disappointed. I am angry though that we showed interest in him for far too long while Swanny were pi*ssing us about.
And as for tall target man type players, I know its not what he normally does but do we have options there with Hedges ?.

My opinion differs to yours. I stand by it, we should have attempted to sign another striker. If Hecky wanted him so badly then clearly we didn't have too many in that position. He wanted 4 strikers. Bradshaw, Thiam, Ugbo and one other. I must have heard different interviews to you. If we had one or two too many bodies why did we sign 16 players and not 14?

That's fine. All entitled to our opinions.

Just fail to see how it's our fault we didn't sign Mcburnie when he wasn't our player and we were waiting for Swansea. We'd signed the paper work two days before the deadline. The fact the deal didn't go through is their fault, not ours.

This is a link to Heckys transfer round up. Granted this was before Mcburnie deal was rejected (I think) but still mentions the fact we were a few bodies too many if anything.

    https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/september/hecky-roundup/

'We wanted competition in every place and I think we have got that now. Looking at it overall, we’re probably a few bodies too heavy as I would gladly work with 22, but we’ve got more so there’s competition everywhere meaning players are going to have to work and fight hard'

Like I said, it's disappointing, but I'd have rather us stuck with our target and not get him than try and find a less calibre player for the sake of it. We have a good young squad who have only failed to hit the net away at the blunts. Given their start, I'm sure we won't be the only ones.

The side is gelling and I think we have plenty to see us through till January. If Mcburnie wants to join us then to spice things up a bit then so be it.

It certainly isn't the clubs fault tho and it feels another case of they can't win whatever they do. They go for their number one targets and get slated when they dont get them.

You can guarantee that had we signed someone worse than him we would have got 'it's a panic buy/he's no better than what we've got/his scoring record is pathetic'.

    Club can't win.

At no point did I mention panic buying. There must have been other strikers we had looked at throughout the window. We could have signed one of the other targets. Instead we held on until the death to a player that isn't such a pedigree that some people are saying he is. My point is, it is the clubs fault that we ended up without a fourth striker which Hecky said we needed and also to argue against the point that we already had too many players. Fans keep stating the 4-5-1 formation yet we played 4-3-3 at Preston. If we can get plenty of goals from midfield then it maybe doesn't matter as much but for now we don't have enough quality competition for strikers.

We have a fourth striker, might not be Mcburnie - but we have 4 strikers
