Difficult mustering much enthusiasm for the full England team, but yet another of the junior sides are showing how it's done.

We talk about England's players being rubbish but all the teams under the full team have done well at major tournaments recently - wonder what the reason is for the failure of the full team.

Had the discussion with someone recently - they suggested we don't have a decent training centre but we do at St George's and before that at Lilleshaw which has been around since the 80's.

Too much money in the game. These youngsters are good enough but once contracts get bigger in a few years time, they'll be like the current crop of the first team.

Apparently a lad called Jadon Sancho was sold by City to Dortmund for £10 million this summer, and they've refused to release him to play. I don't know what I find more appalling, that a 17 year old was sold for 10 million quid, that Man City have sold a promising English youngster (though apparently he forced the move by refusing to train, which is ******* ridiculous in itself), or that Dortmund aren't letting him play for his national team at a World Cup.

They did, he played in the group games - too effectively, it seems, because they then recalled him when the first team squad got stretched.

Last season at the end he told city he would sign a new contract. The summer break went and he then didn't want to sign the contract and wouldn't go on the tour of America.

He didn't go on to training at times to force himself out of the etihad.

Man city had a player that was silly good. Him and foden were the best of the young players but had a player that didn't want to be there.

He would say he wasn't getting the opportunity to play once the season started in the prem.

Dortmund and the bundeliga need looking into by Fifa

I'd say a combination of limited opportunities for young players to breakthrough, and the crazy money often changing the mindset of said players.

German and Spanish players (for example) are well compensated for playing football. This argument doesn't stack up.

The issue been Dortmund have called a player from a Fifa competition. It's simply not on.

If Manchester City would have done the same to Phil Foden I would have had a problem with them.

Why? Please specify what they have done wrong, and what they are doing differently to premiership clubs.

For me, the only thing they are guilty of is not releasing the lad to play for the England team. I've got nothing against him going to play abroad though. In fact, I think players plying their trade abroad and broadening their experience against different footballing styles is one of the reasons England have struggled at major tournaments...

City didn't release Patrick Roberts to play in the summer's Toulon tournament. English clubs have done it for years, only recently have we encouraged lads with 1st team experience play in junior tournaments. I'd rather he was with the England team but, he's been on the bench at Dortmund and he came on last week. At least he's being given a chance to play mesters football.

I thnk it's great that he's gone abroad. Going to sign for a club that size of Dortmund's great for him.

Just think it's wrong that the Germans have stopped him playing. It's bad ebough when England don't pick the best young players like in the summer but when they do and they when get stopped half way through it's time for Fifa to investigate and inforce punishments to the clubs and German FA/ the league.

Can i check this the same kid at man city who wanted assurances he would be in an around the 1st team this season and not stuck in the stiffs/rented out all over the world?

The agreement with dortmund was he played group games and came home. Straight into a champions league squad.

German and spanish players dont start at 17 on 30k a week. They have to earn it.
Until they become regulars in or around the 1st team they are not on much more than an ave. Champ player is.

Infact while im ranting why dont fifa investigage clubs for slavery. .

Phil Foden’s going all the way. Incredible talent & he’s got the best manager in the world to bring on an attacking midfielder. Looks like he could be a long term replacement for David Silva

True but we weren't great before it to be fair - 92 Euro championships sticks out for me
