I'm pretty sure they know it takes more than cash to challenge.

You're quite right. Money doesn't work all the time. There are exceptions, and at the moment there are a few clubs that have spent the money and not getting the results.

There is the other side of the coin though, which is regardless of how successful or not they are, they can still afford to **** up other clubs seasons by taking their best players.

Winnall left to sit on a bench, Hourihane and Bree didn't fare much better last season.

Watkins and Scowen went to clubs in the same division and neither pulling up any trees.

Morsy went back to his parent club for one reason.

    Money is king.

Didn't we have a CEO in place at the time that Roberts was sold?

FYI, Cryne isn't a director of Barnsley Football Club 2002 Limited nor Oakwell Holdings Limited.

So you think the CEO makes these decisions and Cryne has no say?

    Correct.
Didn't do the clubs they all went to much good though.
Still all in the same division as us.

What's the point in paying for the services of a CEO if such person doesn't actually act in the capacity of a CEO, then?

You're being rather disingenuous and stoking the fire, in my opinion.

I only ask because you do not seem to understand that when someone says "no chance" they do not mean it is a mathematical impossibly. They just believe it is highly unlikely. So if I say Slough Town have no chance of winning the FA Cup, I acknowledge that mathematically there is a chance that they could win it but we all know they have "no chance". Comprende?

So you're saying the man appointed by the owner has more say than the owner?

No, but that's not my point. I'm just agreeing with Churton about money.

In the main, clubs with money will do better than those without, it's just how it is.

I'm firmly of the belief that PC does not dictate to the CEO and the recruitment department as to do so would undermine the whole process. Of course he has an input, as JPC had an input in the signing of Winnall but I don't see PC as the director of football, not one bit.

Read the comments from Hecky. Specifically third and fourth from the bottom of the article.

I’m fairly certain that 99.9% of Barnsley fans have nothing but complete respect for what Patrick Cryne has done for Barnsley FC. I’ve no reason to think that he has ever had anything other than the clubs best interests at heart and that there have been no ulterior motives behind any decisions that have been made under his tenure.
I find Conan’s attitude at best disrespectful and at worst downright malicious and spiteful. Will he have the balls to express his opinion at the forum?

    Yes I comprehend that.

But firstly it was nowhere near impossible at the time that we might get in the playoffs or promoted. There was every chance.

And secondly you used your “impossible” thesis as the basis for then immediately going on to try and prove that as a result of this impossibility that LJ was an utterly useless manager.

I imagine that there is “no chance” of an admission of how utterly wrong you then were.

By the way, if LJ is so crap, why are Bristol City 4th in our league?

There is of course no chance they”ll do owt this season is there?

With regard to Hecky's comments. Obviously he doesn't want to lose his best players.
Did Pochettino want to lose Walker to Man City? Would he want to lose Kane to Real? Even for a club like Spurs however, there is a price they see as good business.
Every club in the world sometimes has to take the two steps forward one step back approach.

Makes me cringe when people call him LJ but I'd be interested to know why you are so desperate to defend him?

For the record I think it was the best thing to happen to club in the years when Bristol City to take him off us.

I note that you say there was every chance we would be promoted so from that I must conclude you are saying it was a mathematical certainty.

We all know it’s not in your nature to give any credit to anyone but to deny LJ any responsibility for that promotion is just lain wrong.

You'll often see the terms Owner, Board and Club used almost interchangeably in the interviews of PH and others so I don't read too much into it, to be perfectly honest. Particularly when PC has on more than one occasion personally financed a loan to the Club in order to complete an acquisition, Winnall being one such example.

You also have to weigh the YP article up against the fact that PC isn't a director and then factor in the intricacies of the Companies Act in relation to shareholders dividends and the repayment of loans etc, if that's what you're getting at. It's not a case of Roberts going to BCFC for £3m and PC suddenly getting a notification on his iPhone that there has been a deposit into his online account.

We were 13th in the table when he jumped ship.

Hoe much credit should he get?

I'm not talking about what happened to the money.

Not sure what you mean about "not reading too much into it".The manager clearly states that the offer has to turn the owner's head. That means Patrick Cryne's head. The decision is his. Simple as that. The fact he isn't a director is totally irrelevant.
