Surely for the potential new owners to have input, and I understand why they will, then something regards the ownership needs to happen quickly. We can't offer Hecky a possible improved contract if and when the takeover is complete. This whole situation is starting to get very frustrating now and may possibly cost us our most valuable asset.

If Hecky really is so poorly paid, and the club have a wage structure that they don't want to break, how about they gift him the LJ compensation money as a loyalty bonus. We actually received payment to relieve us of a young (not quite so) dynamic manager, and replaced him with a young (very) dynamic manager, for FREE.

He's already one of our longest serving managers this millennium. If the numbers are even half of what has been thrown around then he'd be daft not to, get on that money for a couple of years and he can do what he wants then.

Bit naive to think that he wouldn't just be contacted directly to see if he's interested, if there's an official approach then it's almost certain Hecky has already said yes.

From what I've seen on Twitter their fans are mixed on him, but these days it seems a lot of fans would rather have an unknown manager with continental sounding name rather than someone local who knows the league inside out.

In Fridays Chronicle Hecky was discussing a run of 11 games in 44 days starting with Saturdays trip to Norwich
and says he wants "us" to keep pushing to see how far this group can go together.
To me that doesn't sound like someone who's thinking of going anywhere any time soon.
If he is as poorly paid as other coaches in the league, who could blame him for using any interest from Sunderland
as a lever to see if he can get Barnsley to have another look at his salary in order for him to stay put.
Speaking to my brother in law ( a Mackem ), he would not be surprised in the least if Sunderland dropped into League One
at the end of the season. Personally I don't think Hecky will leave. He will hope the takeover happens sooner rather than
later so that he can start planning for the future, if of course the new owners intend to let him continue in his present role.

I expect he's only been in the frame in the past couple of days (seems Karanka has fallen through for whatever reason) so I doubt any contact had been made or interest registered at that point.

Plus what's he going to say - "Don't really care about those games mate, all being well I'll be in the north east by then"?

Just been on the late night Calendar News " Barnsley FC are refusing to comment on the speculation
linking their Coach Paul Heckingbottom with the managerial vacancy at Sunderland FC."

They also told us the takeover had broken down. They get their football news from social media.
