Trump is seriously insane.. This is illegal under international law and is likely gonna light the blue touch paper across the arab world ...

Why Trump’s assertion of Jerusalem as capital of Israel would be a catastrophe

"Relocating the US embassy would derail hopes for peace by recognising Isreal’s hostile military occupation of Jerusalem, which divides and impoverishes residents"

Trump is unfortunately mentally ill if he wasn’t in the position he is in I’d feel sorry for him.

    Trump is fuelled by narcissism.
Some very interesting tweets from Seth Abrahams on Twitter regarding Trump's collusion with Putin in his run for Presidency.
    Fascinating stuff.
It appears that Mueller now has enough evidence to impeach him and also to nail Pence.
"Lock them up !", may come back to haunt them, whichever way, it pretty much seems that it's all over for POTUS.

In no way is it anti-semitic to point out that US presidents have been mindful of the very powerful Jewish cabal and lobbyists in Washington without acceding to many of their demands. Whilst this has not resolved the Middle East West Bank Gaza strip powder keg fit has at least prevented it from detonating and igniting the whole of the middle East which has been smouldering for decades.

US foreign policy has always leaned towards Israel and whilst one can sympathise with the fact that they have Hamas as neighbours, it is not exactly like the Palestinians are unprovoked. In fact, the Israelis have committed a number of terrorist acts themselves but seem to avoid adverse World reaction due to American influence.

It is no surprise that Trump has completely sided with Israel given that most of his extreme policies pander to the right wing and pro Jewish lobbyists masking them with his 'catch-all banner 'America first' He is becoming more dangerous by the day. North Korea had better watch out as there is no telling what he might do with that situation.

How long before the American public wake up to the fact that he is not fit to be POTUS.

You are giving a lot of the American Public too much credit there!
Most of the rational ones would never have voted for him in the first place. Most of the ones who put him there will still be cheering him on.

Most dangerous leader of a major power in my lifetime

Most of the people didn't actually vote for him. Clinton had ~3 million more votes.

It was the biggest margin ever by which the popular vote didn't win the election. The US system isn't very fair in that respect. Most states are very consistent in their elected representatives. It's pretty much just a handful of key states that tend to sway back and forth.

Not that the British system is that much better: https://inews.co.uk/essentials/news/politics/number-seats-party-won-vs-vote-share/

I'm not a fan of either system, or any system that uses some variant of the first past the post system.

Fair point - its actually even worse than that
Trump got just over 60Million votes out of a total electorate of 250Million (95 Million didnt vote) so less than 1/4 of Americans actually voted for him. It seems the USA are even less democratic than we are. (tories got 31% of the total available votes last time out)

Yes but at least the 'unfair' system kept UKIP from having a number of seats. The DUP seemed to get a disproportionate number for the size of the vote. so...imagine a 'fairer system might have resulted in more UKIP MPs and therefore a Con/UKIP alliance rather than a Con/DUP forced alliance The whole hard Brexit thing might well have well gone through on a majority with very little opposition. An example of careful what you wish for.

Wow thats stretching it a bit. If we had a fair system like PR
    Tories 42.4% of Seats
    Labour 40%
    Lib Dem 7.4%
    SNP 3%
    UKIP 1.8%
    Green 1.6%
    DUP 0.9%
    Sinn Fein 0.7%
    Plaid cyrmu 0.5%

so the tories UKIP and DUP have no chance of forcing hard brexit through against Labour Lib Dem SNP Green

Of course its perfectly fair that a group with less than 1% of the vote has an effective veto on the negotiations but labour with 40% of the vote has no influence

I know exactly what I'm wishing for. I grew up in The Netherlands where we have proportional representation. So with there being 150 seats, each 0.66% of the vote would get you a seat.

Yes, this would mean the UKIP would get some seats. Quite a few actually in election before this last one. While I disagree with their agenda, I don't think it's fair that the many people who voted for them didn't get represented.

You would also see a lot less tactical voting. Especiallty this last election a lot of people realised voting for Lib Dem, UKIP or the Greens would have no impact on anything. So many voted Conservative or Labour where they would've really wanted to vote something else. The first past the post system, as used here in the UK, tends to push people to choose between two parties. It's the nature of the system. Having a party getting the absolute majority is a lot more common using first past the post than by using proportional representation.

Sure, you'll get coalitions rather than a single party pushing through their agenda. And having coalitions is never easy. But in my opinion having a coalition tends to result in a more central and less extreme agenda.

The thing you would have to give up for such a system is having local representation. I like the idea of having someone represent the local area. But I don't know how effectively we are actually being represented to begin with, given there are 650 people all representing their local areas.

Just subvert the local Tory party with a few hundred mates and deselect him. Job done.

I’m no fan of UKIP but our electoral system is an absolute farce. Leads to swings between left and right. Disenfranchises millions and works against cross cooperation working its time for a change.

I was going to call him an "Orangutan in a suite" but that would be an insult to the more intelligent Orangutan.
