if, and I mean if, the new owners said "we are going to give you 50 million quid to put into the club" what would be the priority spend ?
A sustainable business model for the next 5 years. An increase in pay for all the current staff An increased scouting network. A plan to look at the top 10 footballers from each year from each school in the surrounding area A manageable increase in players wage option New players A big Woolley dog catcher to bang Toby tyke up
I sit in the west stand & all I would like to see is a new roof covering all the seats & new toilet/refreshment facilities
A redeveloped West stand with rail standing/seating areas to allow safe standing when the law changes. Renovate and paint all other areas of the ground and fill the corners in. Take all areas of ground under control of the club. No franchising. Build a social club. Build better relationships with local schools and the community in general. Conduct a 3 year experiment with reduced admission pricing to see if this can impact long term attendance. Carry on with the plan but look at slightly higher targets. Say Ashley Fletcher not Ugbo. Ollie Watkins not Thiam.
Spunk the lot on Barnsley TV - that is where real football clubs invest all their available money. Any left over should go on multiple keepers and ideally the 26 wingers all championship clubs need. All about balance and sensible investment.
Sack the media team and employ Man City's. Release the entire playing staff and bring in Chelsea's U18's. Sack Hecky, and bring in Conte(as long as he agrees to not take holidays or turn off his phone) Sack sir Bobby, and everyone else the vast, vast majority of fans like...
New or renovated West Stand with the tunnel on the half way line as in the old days. When we lose at home our players end up leaving the field having to listen to abuse and/or ridicule from the away fans. The spacing between the seats, and rows of seats, need to be carefully designed to be divisible into the dimensions of the Patrick Cryne flag, so it's easier to put out. To add to that we obviously need to add 5 keepers, an in ground wifi system, and remotely controlled goal posts which can be used during games to slowly make an imperceptible reduction in the width of our goal, and a corresponding increase in the width of the opposition's.
I completely agree with Red CB. I do wonder where those who are clamouring for safe standing in the West Stand currently sit as my seat is virtually on the half way line and in my opinion is one of the best views in the ground. If safe standing is introduced in the West Lower then I imagine that I’ll have to move to an inferior location which I can completely do without, to be honest.
I would like the section between the Ponty end & the west stand ( corner ) made into a safe standing area with a roof put on for acoustics & of course protection from the elements , this would utilise a wasted area & increase the capacity of the ground without anyone having to give up their current seating
