Harry Wilson and Conor Mahoney available allegedly. I’m not a massive fan of loans in general but those two would be an excellent.
We may not have too much of an option not to get loan players in. We need players that can help us over the next 5 months. 1 or 2 quality loan players should help this team. Also at least 2 permanent signings.
I would agree to some extent if they were ready to hit the ground running, like Matty James loan last season. We don't need any more kids though. Squad is big already & needs thinning out a bit & what we really need is experience & quality, would be a shame to get someone in & then have to look again in the summer.
I also agree with what you are saying, personally I would terminate the loans of Gardner and Ugbo, then aim to bring in the quality loan players we need. Also we should now be aiming for more championship quality permanent signings.
Not really seen too much of harry, only on a small number of occasions. Do you think we could persuade both parties to allow him to join us?
I’m going on what my Liverpool and Everton supporting mates say. I know the guys from The End fanzine from way back and they rave about him and a pretty good judges of a player. I have seen him play twice myself once in a friendly and once in a u23 game he was the best player on the pitch on both occasions but it’s difficult to tell from that. I also base it on the fact that in a full season Kent added very little to team in terms of goals or assists though did improve towards the end. Barnes has done far more in half a season.
Why you think that? I wasn't a Ryan Kent fan who couldn't lace the boots of Harvey Barnes, but I have just looked at his stats on Soccerbase. Three seasons ago he had seven games at Crewe which included a six game streak without a win. The season after that he played one game which was when Liverpool scraped a 1-0 win in the FA Cup against Plymouth. This season he's not played a first team game. I would question when since making his football league debut he's only played 8 games in two and a half seasons, because if he was that good surely he'd have been out on loan somewhere by now.
The Liverpool fans I know say that he has been close to the first team Without breaking through and that the hierarchy have been reluctant to let him go for that reason.
I think Gardner is now showing why PH signed him. He's playing better every game now after his injury and provides good experience in the middle.
Agreed. I still feel we need someone who is agressive in the middle of the park. Gardner and Williams are good players but not Scowen-like. Someone who could get into the faces of players would be good We've got a decent squad, so it's all about moulding it so that it improves in quality, moving in and out 4-5 perhaps each window, increasing the quality each time
Liverpool fans think all their young players are the next best thing. 20 years old and barely kicked a ball in a competitive match. Chelsea fans think Ugbo is better than Tammy Abraham based on what they’ve seen at u23 level. How wrong are they?
Sweeping generalisations are unhelpful. The same lads don’t especially rate any of their other youngsters, Kent included, and constantly whinge about a lack of quality coming through.
I just don’t see how 2 lads who have never scored a goal between them and have played a combined total of 20 league games could be deemed EXCELLENT loan signing. Although you are throwing that word around a bit lately. It’s a statement made off nothing but hearsay. You keep using the Flickerism of wanting ‘plug in and play’ signings however want to loan these 2 who definitely couldn’t be described as that.
