Would love this to happen, been our best player this season by some distance. Mature beyond his years

Players on a season-long loan can be recalled by parent clubs in the January transfer window but only if the two clubs have agreed a recall clause in advance.

A loan deal can be cancelled at any time in the season if both clubs concerned agree.

I could well be wrong bit I feel sure that I read that the player can return early if bothe the clubs & the player involved all agree , but with my memory , I could well be mistaken

Lee Bullen mentioned the Chris Martin thing yesterday but wasn't sure whether Winnall would be the same when they asked him.

And break our transfer record with their first signing?

Record signing 20 years ago. £2m is buttons in today's climate.

£1.5M back in '97 would be the same as about £2M today just by inflation. Amazing how little was spent back then for cobbling together a premiership team compared to the money you see being thrown around nowadays.

Hard to believe that we paid Partizan Belgrade £1.5 million for Georgi Hristov. Maybe he could have come good if he had started with us at the second tier level, instead of the Premier League. But, in the end, it was money down the drain, much like the rest of it that we spent that year. I know we made a decent profit on Ashley Ward but the rest was all wasted.

On the flip side it took us until last October to beat our record transfer fee received which stood for 20 years.

And who's our record spend? Sheron or Hristov?

    Barnard at 750k

    Money well spent on both.

Yes they were two of the success stories but they had no resale value did they? I know that making a profit isn't everything but if we had them now they would probably have gone for twice what we paid for them, not on free transfers.

Barnard gave us good value I suppose - over 200 games for us. Jan Aage, much less so. He only played 34 times and scored 9 goals. I loved seeing both of them play for us though - shame the rest didn't pull their weight (thinking of the likes of Tinkler, Krizan, Markstedt etc)

Transfer rumours - Everton tracking Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri

This could make the deal for Joe Williams definitely achievable !!!!

Inflation adjusted Mike Sheron and Iain Hume were probably more expensive...just shows you never get what you pay for, all our 'hall of fame' players either cost nowt or were well under a million.

Apparently Everton rate him very highly. He will stop with us until the end of the
season and then he will be recalled and gradually introduced to the first team set up.

Interesting comments, especially on the Reading match. Its obviously gonna take a lot more than £1 million, but got to start somewhere.

Would I like to see him given a chance in the 1st team? Yes, next season - leave him at Barnsley for now. I'd certainly like to see him in a team that wasn't having to battle every week, then we might have more idea if he could make it in the Prem.

Lolz. Sorry when did Everton run the premier league.
