No definately Hecky . And it's understandable really, after all Hecky gave Fletch and many others their first chance in mens football . That's why he's so respected as a great coach .
You or whoever was trying to score points over Johnson. LJ gave him his chance. Pro debut under him. First goal in first team football under LJ. If he hadn't brought him to Oakwell he wouldn't have ever played with Heckingbottom as coach.
Boro pre-match press conference, 13th October. From 7m 40s. It would be nice to see you acknowledge this. It's pretty disrespectful to Hecky and the coaching staff, suggesting this may not have happened.
I would imagine that if he had a chat with you prior to the move he would playing alongside Messi by now!
Unlike many on here, I like Lee Johnson, both as a bloke and a manager (Yes, I know, he's got a silly voice). But it was Hecky that made him the great player he was for us. Fletcher arrived thinking he could just stroll about and be a great footballer. He scored on his debut and thought this League 1 stuff was going to be a doddle. But of course it wasn't because if he wanted to play for us he had to get into the side ahead of a group of players who were all prepared to run their blood to water. Fletcher looked nothing like that kind of player until Hecky took over. To be fair to the lad he did it, he listened to his coach, he upped his work rate 100% and he began to look majestic at times. Fletcher had the talent, but he needed someone to believe in him and to motivate him to help him harness that talent. Of course he spoke to Hecky before deciding on his future. Fletcher had never played a professional game before coming to us and now he's a millionaire without doing all that much. He knows why that's happened. I'd love Fletcher to come back to us, I've no doubt that working with his mentor again he'd rip up this league. But I'd love Winnall and Hourihane and Brownhill back here too and that's not going to happen either. We can't pay those sorts of wages. Let's find some new blood who Hecky can work with and this time, with the financial backing we have and the business acumen of those in charge, keep the new recruits for a hell of a lot longer and receive the transfer fees that they're really worth. (Word to the wise BFC, such players aren't necessarily in league 2 or non-league)
So we've got Paul Heckingbottom saying he spoke with Fletcher and gave him some advice and you saying he didn't. Hmmmmm, who should we believe?? I think, given your pathetic agenda, I'll take PH at his word thanks.
It's not quite like that tho is it? If he's getting his contract paid up (as has been suggested), he won't be taking a pay cut, indeed any salary he gets will be on top of his lump sum.
Why would he lie about it when it would be so easily exposed? I know you don't like Hecky but can you please stop with the agenda.
