No, we are told we couldn't. Big difference. If we hadn't been so complacent and neglected the revenue generating aspect of the club for over a decade we might not be so apparently poor. Chief Lee comes in and says he wants people to spend money outside of the 90 minute window at oakwell and people are amazed with his visionary thinking. I'm more amazed that we have been so short sighted in the past personally.
So have 95% of other clubs in the English league. It’s a cultural thing he’s trying to change not a Barnsley thing
I've agreed with you in the past about not maximising commercial revenue enough but if you think getting people to come earlier and stay later is going to mean the difference between paying players 10k a week and 20k a week you're on planet Zarg. The new owners will be maximising revenue streams Cryne had no access to.
We aren't going to go bankrupt. Chien Lee if he wanted to spend for example ten million he could put his company on our shirt or on one of the stands for X amount of years to get around FFP like other club owners have done. If we are still going to bring in bargain basement we could have just kept the club Cryne owned.
No, we aren't going to go bankrupt.......as long as they remain on board. Again though, did you watch the press conference and the statement that major outlay was unlikely in the short term?
If you can get every fan to stay and increase their spend by £10 per head that could add up to £120,000 each match day. Get just 100 people and it's still £1000 A championship rivals scoreboard generates £5,000 each match day from ass and sponsorship. Not selling out of shirts is a few thousand. You're right that each individual thing won't make the world of difference but less apathy and trying across the board may have done but from reasons I will never know it was all largely ignored
If we play in the Championship but can’t afford Championship players. There seems little point in playing in that league. So maybe not pack it in but ask for automatic relegation back to a league we can compete in.
Life must be dull in your house if this is excitement. A 4 goal in 31 games at this level forward and a talented but unknown at this level Austrian. Both may be good eventually. It puts a lot of pressure on both players to expect them to make the kind of impact needed given their inexperience.
Not sure what you’re saying here. Kieffer Moore now is a far more proven player than Hugill was when Preston signed him?
We need two strikers, a replacement for Harvey Barnes and probably a replacement for Williams after today, especially if Everton won't sell him to us. Given the fact that Hecky says at every interview we have only two wingers, that probably means that we need another winger. I make that 5 players in all for the window. The plan is clearly to use untried players and develop them and some will make whilst others don't. The question is, who can we sign who has a chance of making it with our coaching? This brings me on to coaching staff and we clearly need another one, or two in that department who can get a result from the players we sign. Hecky has said he wants to bring in people who are better than him in that department. All in all it's a work in progress and we need to be lucky with our signings over the next three weeks if we are to survive. Trust in Hecky and trust in the spreadsheet and trust in the new owners. A couple of Loans from France may not be a bad thing.
Of you are so defeatist you say you cannot compete in the League you play in its the only logical way forward.
Yeah because they are really proven clutching at straws here and you mentioned hugill presyon signed him from port vale as potential. The exact signing many are moaning about us signing.
I don’t mind us signing Moore. One for the future. It’s far too much pressure to put on him to expect him to play a big role this season. We need someone who can make an impact now in addition to more gambles. It’s just the sort now lauding him as some sort of savour that will be on his back if he doesn’t score or contribute just like the ones who overpraised Hecky who are now on his back.
Stephen Fletcher. Sam Winnall. Gary Hooper There are shedloads of ok at this level forwards who didn’t cost a fortune.
