Without wishing to reignite the debate there will always be individuals who look disparagingly upon any signing regardless of the circumstances as football is an opinions game and everyone sees it differently, as this thread and countless others have shown.

When we signed Gary Gardner, a player with bags of Championship experience, on loan from Villa even that signing was met with a level of criticism by certain sections of our support.

Matty James is another whos signing was criticised as it was deemed that he wasn’t fit enough and that we were being used simply as a vehicle to get him fit and/or put him in the shop window.

The right back, Hunt; he was a player that I personally had wanted us to sign for years. He was strong, quick and exactly what I wanted to see from a full back not to mention bags of experience. He was shocking, absolutely abysmal in fact.

I certainly don’t think that experience is the be all and end all when it comes to signings. It’s more horses for courses and the right player for us at that particular time might be someone with zero experience who posseses all the necessary attributes and simply clicks with the club, the system, the players and the fans. I hope that we’ve now turned a corner and are looking to sign players to fit in with the actual system and the needs of the squad as opposed to signing say 5/6 number tens simply because they’ve scored highly on the checklist/spreadsheet.

I think i once read Watkins was on almost 20k a week. Cant confirm it but i feel like a few of these players could be in 5 figures already

Think the ship's sailed there tbh scowern went to QPR to 'e closer to family as Huddersfield were also interested. Watkins made it clear he wanted away I suspect Norwich are paying more than we can. Morsey would be good won't happen though but 1 out of 3 int bad.

That point goes against your argument. Thought I'd point that out

Don't think there will be a day in my life where I look back and think "Hope Gordon Owen doesn't think I'm silly"

This debate started because you said the French lad was ‘Meh’.

All I wanted to know was who would people find exciting?

You also said Moore wasn’t exciting when we signed him. You definitely wouldn’t have found Lee Evans exciting as he’s got only played 30-40 games at this level just like Moore.

    No surprises there then

I personally find any attacking minded player exciting. Especially young players and pacey players. Experience or no experience, no matter the league as long as they are atleast going to be considered for first team. Its hard to get excited about defenders usually but I did like the sound of Lindsay when we signed him and a new keeper would kind of excite me because I feel Davies has been poor.

900k for mcgeehan and I thought it looked a good move standout player for Luton but hasn't played much since the leg break so hope he gets some game time at sunny and comes back good next season.

I know Marley is on less than what I was given as a wage budget. But that’s irrelevant. They are 3 players who would improve our team who we could sign for the budget I was given. Not that we will or should. Ben Marshall is a reasonable shout as is Bree. Again not saying we should just that they are within the budget given.

That’s the problem with your imaginary signing spree. You have no idea of wages and other than Marley neither do I. You can’t say I couldn’t sign them I can’t say we can. Thanks for demonstrating why the question was ridiculous most helpful. .

Marley Watkins wasn't forced out he handed a transfer request in this time last year. He wanted to leave just out of curiosity how do you know what money Marley is been paid?

I think you are right. Dont think any of the 3 players would care to come back. Or else they wouldnt have gone in first place. Only money will speak to them or lack of options for them in later years if they didnt do as well as expected, thats if the club were still interested in them at that stage of their career.

I bet owd Marley isn't handing a transfer request in this January. He ought to be for football reasons but I suppose his 15k a week softens his disappointment .
