Which people are struggling to correlate. In the last 15 months: - We sacked a CEO and didn't replace him leaving Hecky to pick up the pieces - additional work load - Have been clear that our model is to coach & develop players yet introduced no additional coaches into the first team set up from what we had in L1 (unless I missed something) but brought in more players that require development than ever before - more work load - Sold or saw any player with any Championship quality leave for free: - Hourihane - Mawson - Scowen - Roberts - Winnall - Bree - Watkins - Have not got close to replacing them with quality of anywhere near despite us pocketing 10m plus - Reading between the lines have ignored his wishes in terms of signings (people need to start listening to what I've been saying for 12 months, I don't know much about who we've brought in etc) - Didn't particularly invest in January when it was plain we needed to (and despite the previous sales & capital investment from the takeover) In summary, we've made his job impossible. Doesn't matter if you were a Barnsley fan or not, as an ambitious professional if you were working somewhere you loved & had a connection to & your gaffers did that to you then you'd probably be looking to get out with your reputation in tact. I think he's been trying to do it for a while (Sunderland/Forest) and it didn't come off and this is now his big opportunity. He can't lose at Leeds. He does well then he gets one of the biggest clubs in the country firing. He doesn't then he gets sacked which at Leeds isn't a big deal and he gets another job. He's looking after himself after looking after the club for the last 14 months. Fair play to a decent man who I wish every success. He deserves that for what he's done for us in his time.
The first four words of your post show just why we are finding it hard to correlate. "He's a Barnsley fan". It's not often a club can identify with one of their own being in charge of their club. Yes, your reasons are spot on, but that is the simple reason folks are going to find it difficult. It will hurt for a while before life as a fan gets back to normal.
Agree with everything except wishing him well. I wish well on a personal level, but I hope Leeds lose Every time they play (apart from the Sheffield games where I just don't care). I won't stop wanting Leeds to lose just because Hecky goes there.
Supporting a club & your job are very different things. Your team's league position & your own career are very different things. In other words, I agree. But you see what I mean.
100% get it yeah. I'm greatful for all of Heckys work with us. He has to put himself first I have no problem with that. But to wish him well is just not possible as I want Leeds to be ****. Ideally Hecky will move onto better things and i can wish him well then when he is England head coach.
Probably not the time and place for comments on the previous regime but he could not have waited to see what the new consortium intends to do?
We seem to have a number of fans more passionate about Paul Heckingbottom's finances than our club, its interests, its rivalries and its future. No fans of any other clubs behave like this. If you can't ignite a bit of back and forth and rivalry about things like this whats the point in following football. No need to reply I just find it interesting.
Strange how a year ago all these thoughts of wanting to better himself and look after his family weren’t aimed at a lad from Wolverhampton who had zero connection to Barnsley. A hint of a double standards??
I agree with everything you say I understand his reason his frustration with the way things have and are being run at Oakwell. But he played on the I'm a fan I understand bit when it suited, keeping fans support when for anybody else it would have gone weeks and weeks ago. So I'm sorry but to sign his new contract and then in less than a week go to one of the three most hated clubs for a Barnsley Fan a club he publicly said he hated means I can't forgive or wish him well and hope he loses every game between now and easter and is sacked but to be honest I very much doubt hes bothered about what I or any other reds fan thinks of him.
