My uncle worked as a steward for a bit of pocket money from 1982-85. Just text to let me know he’s been approached to follow Hecky to Leeds

If the club shop staff are also heading to Elland Road, surprised McDonald chose to go to Hull last week instead.

Translation: while I was illegally being tapped up/tapping up Leeds united I managed to have covert conversations with a couple of my mates and convinced them to hand their notice in before Barnsley got a chance to talk them out of it. I wish I had more time to do the same with all the employees but Barnsley FC obviously know about it now so I darent risk getting caught.
PS I'm glad that after talking to Leeds while they still had a manager I managed to trick Barnsley into inserting a release clause which I could tell Leeds about immediately.

    lovely person.
By the way I don't blame him one bit for leaving but deliberately dropping a club you claim to support in the ****. Being underhand about your dealings and then trying to shaft them some more is out of order.

Ain’t he just been honest? Wouldn’t all managers who get recruited from other clubs want to have people around them they like, trust & are good colleagues.

I think people are taking him basically praising his former colleagues as ‘I want to destroy Barnsley football club’.

I’d like to think he’ll put out some kind of statement to Barnsley fans in the next couple of days but by the sound of it he’s barely had a second. If he doesn’t he’ll go down in my estimation

Hecky emailed me this morning to ask me to start supporting Leeds. Didn't offer me enough cash though ,so I've decided I've still got unfinished business at Barnsley .

To be honest this isn't surprising- most managers take their backroom staff with them. They're comfortable with who they work with generally.

    Still annoying like.

Never read such drivel in all my life. I think a lot of posters on this thread need to grow up a bit. We have all known that Hecky is a terrific coach doing a very good job with inadequate resources. Doing degree studies as well as all the coaching badges demonstrates that he always had ambition. Unfortunately our club have failed to match that ambition. Nobody on here would turn down a job at five times their current salary in the interests of "loyalty", and where your immediate future had only a 12 month guarantee. If that applies to Hecky, it applies to the other staff who have gone with him. Let's not forget that Barry Murphy went with Alan Clarke to Leeds because job offers like that only come around maybe once in a lifetime. Barry is, and remains as loyal a Barnsley fan as you could meet - and a damn nice bloke too.

Hecky has said not a word out of place about Barnsley - a club he still loves. But the club will not secure his and his family's future, so he was right to take this incredible opportunity - whatever your feelings towards Leeds as a club. It's time we all started to grow up and ask the more appropriate question - just what are the new regime's plans for our club? Because at the moment they are about as clear as Theresa May's brexit strategy.

The other thing to consider is that some of the other staff might be wanting Hecky to take them with him. New owners & a new manager coming in, what’s the job security? Go now to Leeds & it’s probably a slightly longer commute for most or risk staying at Barnsley ending up out of work & have to travel all over for work

Interesting take on that post. I didn't read it like that at all (not saying I'm right and you're wrong by the way).

Chuff me are you lot like this every time someone takes a new job? When Pauline left the corner shop to work in Aldi’s and convinced her mates Shamona and Dave to join her did you barricade the shop and conduct lynchings after Emmerdale?

This has to be the biggest betrayal in the history of our club? Most recently Winnall, a player with no connection to our club moves for more money, did it without class but we'd all move jobs for more money? Going back to Wilson and Wednesday, moved to a bigger club but did it with dignity and leaving us plenty of time for a new manager to recruit. Hecky on the other hand leaves a week after signing new players, after the window has shut and taken staff with him, whilst wanting to take the rest. I'm all for doing whats best for yourself, but it has to be balanced with some integrity.

Lads and lasses, please don't turn on each other. Accept and respect differing views, he's gone, that's it, move on. Focus on Saturday and leave the squabbling until the summer. You Reds!

Sending all those players out on loan hasn't done the club any favours. Like throwing a grenade in the dressing room before he left.

Losing our assistant manager doesn’t matter cos our new manager will want his own. Going to be hard to replace the sport scientist, who have done a great job

I have to say it hurts.....but we should be used to it by now.
I always say to my kids people speak with their actions (not what they say)...talk is very cheap in football and its diffecult for fans who work all week and then pay to see their team.
I dont begrudge him his pay day...99% of us on here would do the same.....i do not enjoy the lying though (although it is probably more prevalent in footy than most).
Trying to pick your way through statements...from players alleged injuries....to player contracts and transfers...and now his own. You dont need to be a genious to see how he has attained another agent to engineer a move...the way in which
