Sorry but working on a checkout is not an equal job to working in a warehouse. The physical workload is totally different.

Equal pay for the SAME job by all means but demanding to be paid be the same as somebody doing a totally different job and claiming it is due to gender is utter ********

You are misunderstanding the law. It is to paraphrase equal pay for work of equal value. My mum got a pay out from the council. She had been a ‘home help’ the male comparator used were bin men.

Interesting how it’s being reported though. ‘ Equal pay may cost Tesco £4billion’ rather than Tesco May have to return some money illegally withheld from women.

How do we put a value on "work"? The more people are paid the less they same to do.

"The more people are paid the less they seem to do" is what I'm assuming you mean?

That's ******** of the highest order and it seems you are eating all the lies that our ruling order are wanting you to.

"You've got enough money for cigs and beer, why do you want more you scum".

Having tried and failed to take some equal pay claims forward as a union rep it’s a right ballache. One you’d need an employment lawyer to properly answer and probably a specialist one at that.

    Redstar is correct.

I would have thought that would have been obvious.

They already do. A man can take paid leave to look after new borns or the leave can be shared.

I work for a government organisation and we have different pay grades. All seems completely arbitrary as there is no correlation with the volume of work, the knowledge required or the importance of the job. Just seems the higher the grade the less they do.

He’s trying to say that the higher up an organisation you go, the less work people seem to do.

Because presumably he’s one of these people that don’t understand that the CEOs of large companies, despite their obscene amounts of pay, are usually incredibly intelligent, talented and willing to make sacrifices to their personal lives and carry levels of stress that most of us just would not be willing to go near.

That sounds like someone stuck on the bottom of the ladder, looking up and just seeing an arsehole.

Knowing a number of people whove worked in tescos warehouses over the years...

Its horrible work. You dont get time to let a fart out.

Barring breaks its almost non stop.

    High attrition rates.

Is that equal value to working in a store?

I think Aldi have the best outlook on it.

Everyone gets paid the same based on their level in the company.
Everyone is expected to pull their weight in all aspects of the role be it tills or unloading the delivery regardless of what reproductive organs you have.

Men are perfectly able to take the leave instead or it can be split across both parents - the pay is to enable one parent to stay at home with a new child. Often it is the female who a couple chooses to receive it so that she can recover from giving birth, for convenience if she is breast feeding and/or because women tend to have lower paid jobs. A man wouldn't be paid the money whilst the woman is off on maternity, and a woman wouldn't get it if the man stayed at home with the child.

Only if the female first consents to give up that portion of leave. It will always be down to the female to not want the leave first regardless of what the male worker wishes.

As they are supposedly focused on equality these days, how about equal rights for men in family law. How long do they ignore groups like fathers for justice etc..

I've always been in favour of equality but it has to work both ways.

CEOs work an average of 58 hours a week.

It's an incredibly competitive job market at that level.

You think they could just turn up for a couple of hours a day?

They would very quickly get fired.
