It was their monthly Bradford City show between 6 and 7 tonight. Listened to most of it on the drive home. Quite interesting; bar one tweet saying McCall had lost the players, every message they had was fully behind him. He went out with the players the night after his sacking and the players posted a picture of him on social media with the caption ‘the greatest’. Took them within a whisker of promotion last season and sixth in the table this time. Harsh sacking. Funnily enough when the talk went onto replacements, it was exactly the same list of candidates, with Grayson their favourite (1/5 with one bookie!) and mentions for Wolf, Cowley etc etc. With every name mentioned, they added the caveat ‘also linked with the Barnsley job’.
I have a theory that sometimes it's not that 'good managers' suddenly turn into 'poor ones', but the pressure of bad results ends up as a weight around the squads neck. Then when the manager goes, the pressure lifts and the team (as if often seen) goes to win their next few games. As a result I subscribe to the wacky idea that in some cases manager should be 'sacked' for 3 weeks, then re-installed.
