Why? Macca was well gone before Redders was here, and even then I don’t get the obsession with him, he was a great player for us but very so so since.
Didn`t say they knew each other, both strong links with us, Macca is championship standard manager, Redfearn did his best work as a no 2.
I agree with this, and not for daft sentimental reasons. Redfearn would be an asset to any club as a No.2 or part of a coaching set up. A real man of football who just happens to have a major soft spot for Barnsley. And Mick McCarthy, well, I could site sentiment, but the man has pedigree, not least as a former national team manager. This would be my dream team and one which, if the new owners could pull off, would get many a disillusioned fan back on board.
Well you could apply that to Hecky - With Mowatt at £500k and Kpeckawa at £450k, just short of a million quid wasted . Macca's managed Ireland in a World Cup, and dealt firmly with Roy Keane, sending him packing.. Championship experience in abundance.
Not really. Both deals cost next to nothing & Nouble improved a fair bit under him, nothing special but did a reasonable job for them. The money had dried up at Ipswich & McCarthy’s had to try & take cheap gambles on players, some have worked some haven’t.
personally don't want any ex barnsley owt to do with running our team again. i want every decision from hereon, to be a football decision. both hiring & firing. best person qualified and if they don't perform, they're out.
I like this. And if we could poach them, I'm sure one or two of the Belles would get into our first team!
Im sorry in advance for what I am about to say... Redfearn is a ****. Ive met him a few times and he is so up himself its unbelieveable. He has very little feelings for the club. He isnt a fan, hes leeds through and through, when hes on the radio is all negative towards barnsley. I just dont get the obsession. Yes he scored a few goals but hardly the messiah. FFS... come on lads.
Two Legends won't necessarily make a good Managerial Team. We dropped lucky with Clarke & Hunter but other than giving everyone a reason to have a massive party in Grove Street I can't see anything to suggest that Macca/Redders is the answer to our prayers.
Mick now second favourite on oddschecker. However Cowley favourite and bbc earlier said we approached Lincoln
I'd be happy with Cowley. Fits our ethos. May or may not keep us up, who knows. I think the test of that will be the quality of the players we have landed in January, a manager can set the team out & train them to some extent, but at the sharp end of the season there is a limited amount that can be done. I love big Mick, he's a legend, but I don't see anyone on the board or the CEO having any sentiment in the decision to appoint whoever it is.
