I won’t just be disappointed if we end up with Cowley, I’ll be effing fuming, massive step backwards. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Poundland Keith Hill, absolutely no contacts in the game and almost zero EFL experience never mind Championship experience. We’ll end up signing all of his mates and it’ll be even worse than the chuckle brothers HillCroft. What the hell can they bring to the table in a relegation scrap?

Firstly, how can you possibly know that? Secondly, given how our players are identified is that even relevant?

I've no idea if he'd be any good or not, but your rant is barmy.

Agreed, now is definately not the time for untried managers at this level in our situation, especially ones that have no connections in this league and the premier league. We need seasoned championship management in the short term, not former school teachers for the full term.

Firstly he’s an ex PE teacher, where’s his contacts coming from? Secondly Hecky has admitted today he’s chosen Leeds as someone else deals with the signings and he can get on with coaching, thirdly he’s no experience so what makes you think he’d be able to hit the ground running?

He would be a bad choice given a full pre season to get to know the players, never mind having to hit the ground running half way through February.

Well he wasn't going to say he jumped for the money is he?
Sorry don't buy it he had an assistant and a team round him to help with other stuff, that seems to get ignored. He's been pulled up by a number of sources so he's grabbing at the more plausible excuses.

Appointing any manager is more about luck and timing than any great science.

Appointing experience can work. It can fail. Appointing someone with potential can go either way. Appointing from within we have had our successes and failures.

The system we operate the Head Coach model with the biometric recruitment model will not be the right one for some experienced managers. They will not wish to work in that way or be capable of doing so. It is a model that is popular across Europe so it would be unsurprising if we looked abroad or at younger managers in this country more able or be willing to work within the parameters set.

Experience may be valuable in some ways. At the same time many of tbe names mentioned are experienced in failure. The step in and off the managerial merry go round it’s not necessarily a good thing.

Whoever we appoint they should have our support. It’s a difficult time for tbe club and we need to stick together.

Well 'the system' is certainly not working very well in the championship is it? We are running out of games and this month is crucial to wether we stay up or go down. Now certainly isnt the time to refer to the spreadsheet for anything, head coaches/managers included. Now is the time to put someone in place, undoubtably experienced at this level, who can play players in their proper positions and pick the best attacking side we can in order to pull away from relegation. We start pissing about now with the failing spreadsheet and plan instead of trying to survive this season and we are nailed on to go down imho.

It’s irrelevant what your or I think about the spreadsheet approach it’s why the investors invested and it’s not going anywhere fast.

By experience do you mean managers sacked by clubs at Championship level? Basically you want someone not good enough for our rivals who is out of work or do you think we have enough pulling power to lure one who isn’t tainted by failure from a fellow Championship club?

Well whatever, sure it wont be irrelavent to the new owners if we pick a relative unknown and the inevitable happens and we find ourselves back in league 1 come May. These players need proper direction right now and i believe from someone who knows this league and would command respect, otherwise just leave the caretaker manager in place for the rest of the season, at least he knows the club and 'the plan'.

We will probably end up in L1 whoever we appoint. We are a poor team.

I’m just not clear why people think that someone who keeps getting sacked by Championship level clubs for not performing well would be the right choice. Why do we want to reward failure? The only manager of experience we could potential attract who is in a job is Mick but I don’t think he will come.

As for others. Grayson 5 jobs. Sacked 3 times and jumped ship first chance he got the other 2 times. Why would we think he was a good idea?

If we get an experienced manager that is happy to be a Head Coach and work with the spreadsheet then all well and good. He is just as likely to succeed or fail as someone we have never heard of from Europe.

You've forgotten the strict BBS rule "If you've never heard of him he must be crap".

This rule is most commonly used to assess new signings, but it can also be applied to potential new managers, and even to chief execs.

I tend to agree with you , all this clamour for some of these out of work experienced names puzzles me , they just go from one gig to another picking up salary followed by compensation after being sacked, its like a sacked managers club . Interestingly , since the 90"s we have been promoted three times & each time it was with a manager being tasked with coming in as caretaker from within the club & subsequently getting the job full time , Danny Wilson when Viv Anderson walked , Andy Ritchie after Paul Hart got peddled & recently Hecky after little Lee jumped ship . I am not saying it would work this time but it is food for thought . No doubt , I will have got my facts wrong & someone will jump down my throat but I think I am right

You could well be right, I knew someone would wise me up , but I thought Danny was Vivs number 2 & when Viv walked , he took the job initially before getting it full time , but you get the jist of my original post

Completely agree, I’m coming round to the Big Mick idea. We need a championship experienced manger, used to working with ersatz players and capable of galvanising the whole club, team, fans, owners all. Only one man for that, and it’s not Simon bloody grayson or Cowley and Cowley. Not a sentimental appointment, but looking at the men available, a cold calculation of who is best for our urgent needs.

Windows shut now until the summer, therefore surely the spreadsheet is somewhat irrelevant until end of season? thats surely why we need someone in short-term who has the man management and football team management ability to keep us up in this league or am i missing summat? Give the cowleys till the summer if they are indeed a target, let them have their day in the sun at wembley with lincoln, we need to be concerned about the here and now and that means trying to stop up with the most savvy manager we can attract whos had success at this level for me. Going down shouldnt be an option or surely that shows that the plan/spreadsheet has failed miserably?
