If I was appointing the new head coach....

    This is what be looking for.

    (A) Attacking, entertaining football, the wide players being encouraged to play with pace power and flair, plus two strikers in every game.

    (B) I want to see the team playing with pride at a very high tempo both with and without the ball.

    (C) Everyone who watches us regularly, should be able to predict the starting 11 most weeks, unless injuries play apart, it should be a real shock if the team is changed.

    (D) I want a head coach who can see the short comings of the team and make changes during the game, just as we the fans start to notice the problems we’re having, not 10 minuets after the fans as we concede a goal because of it.

    (E) I want a coach who can improve players on the training ground. And it be really evident on match days.

    If the new man can produce the above, I’d give him a go, regardless of age, experience, or having a well known name.

    Literally no way of knowing any of this before appointing. Might as well add

    a, Winning games

    b, keep
    us in the Championship
    anything else is secondary at the moment.

    Looking at the critira I’ve set, I bet I could name you 50 managers who couldn’t deliver (A) never mind (B) or (C) so that’s going to thin out the applicants a hell of a lot, once you’ve got a list of people who tell you they’re willing to give maximum effort to provide everything you’re asking for, you sit down assess they’re previous work, until you’re familiar with them and what they’ve being doing in previous jobs, then you speak to people who have worked with them and take it from there.

    You find a man who wants to be that kind of coach so you can mould into that coach, by drilling into him every day what it is you want from him, you get him as much help as he needs to become that coach, you support him 100% while ever he’s trying to become that coach.
