It is really. In lots of ways, no actually, in every way - this has been the worst 12 months I’ve ever known as a Barnsley fan. Dreadful really and could get worse with a relegation to top it all off.

Would be some achievement if we stayed up after all the ***** the players have been through.

More bitter and twisted stuff, Redstar. We can pretend all we like but the fact is that Leeds are a bigger, wealthier club and their head coach's role is an opportunity that no-one in Hecky's position could sensibly turn down. And before you say it - no I'm not going to go forth and multiply (difficult for a man in my position) and watch them. We are a smaller club that has hitherto had a small town club mentality - which some see as a virtue. Whether that will change with the new owners remains to be seen. I hope so, because I'm not up for League One.

I’m not suggesting we are a bigger club than them

    He knows the score

It’s just giving them ammunition to come out with the same old trite ******** they have for years.

What he’s done and more so, how he’s done it is indefensible in my opinion.

Of course he could have turned it down. I don't know why you insist on presenting this as something that absolutely everyone would do if given the opportunity.

The contract signing issue is a total red herring. Barnsley FC have profited from that. What if it was the club that instigated the new contract being signed at that point?

Because which of us in this world (apart from Mr Lee) wouldn't rather be paid £1.2M for the next 12 months rather than £300k? Not me, for sure.

You don't know that. You also don't know the figures he was and is being paid. You've arrived at your own conclusions and are continually presenting them as fact.

Why are Leeds a bigger club is it because they have silly fans who pay silly money to watch dross just like us ?

That is true to a point. But there are snippets of information that appear in tweets and local reports (Yorkshire Post, etc). These can be compared to the surrounding facts when considering whether they appear reasonably likely to be true. I would guess that a majority of the threads on this forum are based upon opinion backed up by only partial (or sometimes even no) knowledge of what is definitively true. It's all we can go on, and it would not be much of a debating forum if we applied a criminal standard of proof before discussing any topic. But let's suppose that Leeds were offering half of what I still believe to be the case. Hecky would still be a fool to turn it down.

Because their average attendance last year was almost exactly double our own. Consequently, it is reasonable to assume that their wages are higher and as a result of that, their expectations. They can and do sign higher profile and probably more talented players than we do. That may not matter - we are punching above our weight and we take pride in that. But it is nonsense to pretend they are not a bigger club than us. That could of course change if our owners were prepared to do something "crazy" (which I'm not advocating).

They average more than Leicester, however, attendances mean f*ck all if you do nothing with it. They're still in our division and only a few places higher in the league.

Very true. But they now have one of the best young head coaches in the country, so we shall see!

That opinion presented as fact based off win %'s? Must be close to 50% in the last year for a title like that? Maybe the electrifying performances we've all witnessed this year?
