after 3\4 days of much gnashing of teeth and jerking of the knee am I glad he's gone, YES, the results, the tactical blunders and not playing formations that suit the playing staff, sadly all point to him having to leave. did he jump or did he get a little nudge as it all happened fairly sharpish, was his last deed as a Barnsley fan signing that contract so that lot had to stump up some compense, dunno. taking his staff with him YES, old staff old methods, new staff new methods. is "the plan" workable YES, but then so will everyone else. who would I want in, well I don't think theres a cat in hells chance of macca, hes a hero in Barnsley but if he comes here and it doesn't work then he's in the clarts. I liked the look of the german guy that is supposed to be a shoe in at Bradford ( german owners) big mates and worked with clippity and wagner so he must have learned something, but whoever comes in must have to work within the plan. all in all thanks for the memories hecky but I cannot and will not wish you good luck just because of where you went. just the ramblings of a broken down old jedi

Personally, Trev old mate, Hecky means nothing to me now. All I care about is our new management team (irrespective of their length of time in the job) of Paul Harsley, Matt Murray, Andy Holdsworth & John Vaughan and the lads in red tomorrow. They have my full backing.
As for a new manager/head coach, I'm keeping an open mind about it. That way, I'm not disappointed if my choice (or type of appointment) isn't selected.

to be honest i'm not a fan of the 'keepers coach, its not him its the way/methods that are being used all over the leagues, the pushing the ball away and parrying it, i'm surprised you haven't heard my dulcet tones screaming " GRAB THE ******* THING ITS NOT A ******* SNAKE" I wish the remaining coaching staff all the best and please put a side out that has a go and is not 10 behind the ball and chase that bradders

I don't know what the quality of our coaching staff is like. However, they're OUR coaching staff and therefore have my backing.

Trev you could be manager and "Praise and Grumble" from the training ground could be fitness and fatness coaches.

Oy Trev will you stop making sense man, it goes against the grain after all these years :). And ....its about time you came to the Breakfast Club in Brammers, I'm sick of taunting all the squaddies and engineers.

It's taken me until tonight to think of anything to contribute to be honest. I'm disappointed to see Hecky leave but even the most supportive of us were increasingly feeling he may have had the decision made for him. I say that with a truly heavy heart, he was part of one of the most scintillating periods of exciting football I've seen since 1980/81, when the reds became my love.

I don't want to continue speculating on what's gone off, not gone off, but I have a feeling that the departure of Hecky is possibly the best for both parties. For what he gave us, albeit fleetingly, I have no axe to grind with him and he'll crack on with his career, and for BFC, well the club has been through worse, especially before my time. But it's hard not to think something had soured between the two.

The optimist in me sees this as yet another opportunity. I'd class myself as a ambitious. But a realist too. Survival is all that matters now. Achieve that and then take stock, with new owners comes new ideas, it's more than just money. Endless years of hanging around the bottom of the division isn't fun but I'm content for a longer term approach to progress, whatever "progress" is.

There is a continuum at Barnsley, always has been by and large. There's a step change at the top of the club, but still the Cryne family input. Others depend on the club for their living in more modest ways, let's not forget them. Relegation would hit them as well as us. Stay behind them.

So, thank you Hecky for what has been and gone, let's try and help the next guy write a similar story with a better ending.
