I can’t believe that so many people seemed to genuinely expect McCarthy to be our next manager. Never going to happen, in my opinion.
Wouldn't say that's it. He's just not been contacted, could still be and didn't he say he didn't want it. I doubt we'd go for him, we'll get a foreign coach in, but wouldn't say those comments were conclusive. Watch his interview
All he says is that he hasn't been "contracted"... that means we tapped him up three weeks ago and he said "let's wait and see. Now is Hayseldens still on Huddersfield Road where I can get my new Audi?"

Straight batted the questions but with typical McCarthy humour. “Maybe next season”. Who knows. If that was our manager talking about another job..... I wouldn’t be absolutely convinced he couldn’t be tempted. Come Home Mick. It’s your time.
That 'maybe next season' comment was said in a very serious tone I reckon. He joked his way through some comments and he seemed like he definitely could be convinced if the timing's right. I hope we at least approach him.
I would love it. But I was under the impression it just wouldn’t happen. But listening to that if money and “plan” was right I think he could be tempted. Short term and then move Home in summer.
His contract at Ipswich runs out in May. Although he does have an option for another 2 years. https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/32502/mccarthy-ill-finish-my-contract-and-see-what-happens
Neither really pal, just a feeling. They're drawing up the final shortlist today, infact it's probably done by now.
It's hardly an unequivocal no is it and he said he hasn't been contacted, WTF Barnsley get on the phone immediately !!!!!!!!!!!!
As I said in another thread, MicMac is not and never will be a Head Coach. I believe our best chance of bringing him home is to a DoF role.
