Your opposition's incompetence makes some of the football we've seen this season look alright in comparison.

 

That's a very painful injury. I did my MCL over 18 months ago and it took ages to get it right. I went from being a good age grade athlete to a Donkey. The pain from any knee injury is dreadful.

 

All good wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

 

Yep I agree, all joking aside I don't wish a serious injury like that on anyone.
The guy is and always will be a snake tho......

 

I was one of his last patients before he retired some 8 or 9 years ago.
Did mine playing 5 a side at the Metrodome running in a straight line after the ball and it just went, I collapsed on the floor, the pain was unbelievable, took me a good 10 minutes before I could stand and had to helped up to the bar☺️.
Next morning went to work with my knee strapped up with ton of bandages, sithi.

 

Personally wish him well, enjoying the fact it didn't work out at Wednesday for him is different to being pleased he is injured for me.
He had the decency to the thank the fans when he left so I will wish him a full and speedy recovery.

 

Worked with Mr Bryant regularly for 10 years during my training and after qualifying before I left BDGH. Lovely gentle man, quite well spoken, good surgeon, and he used to do The Times crossword in between patients.

Cracking sense of humour. If you remember in the mid nineties, there was an outcry (I think led by Diane Abbott?) about Homerton Hospital, Hackney, recruiting attractive young nurses from Finland to bolster their staffing. Mr Bryant wrote to the Times as follows:

I wonder if you may have actually done my left knee? It was in September 2008 at BDGH. My Bryant was on the point of retirement but he was there to supervise a trainee orthopaedic surgeon who was going to do a cyst decompression on my left knee. This was an injury caused by celebrating Kayode's goal against Chelsea in a bar in Austria, as @JLWBigLil has alluded to in another thread.

I introduced myself and he actually remembered doing my ligament replacement in my right knee 24 years previously. He was thrilled to have the opportunity to examine my knee to see how the operation had stood up to the test of time. He manipulated and twisted my knee in the familiar way, scaring me to death as I knew he could yank it and rip my ligaments out if he wanted to. I remember him explaining the by then outdated technique to the trainee surgeon.

He asked me if I would allow a trainee anaesthetist to put me under, and I said no problem, we all have to learn. The young lad stuck the cannula in and administered the anaesthetic, then asked me to count. When I got to 25 he realised something was wrong, and at that point I noticed the big swelling in my left hand. He'd missed the vein. He tried again in my right hand, I counted to fi...........

I remember asking My Bryant if I'd be able to ice skate after the operation. He said of course, no reason why not. I said that's funny, I couldn't ice skate before. B'dum tish...

I wish it was me Stahlrost. Don't have the brains for Medicine, I trained and qualified as a Radiographer in 1995, left in 2002, spent many hours in theatre with Bryant though, day and night. My son is the one whos looking at pursuing a medical career. More brains than me. And more attitude I reckon.

 

Well the guy who did it made a really good job of it, probably with Paul Bryant looking on. I mangled my knee in Austria in March, the day of the Chelsea game. I played cricket (wicket keeper) all summer with it but I knew it wasn't right, and the op was in September. Once the operation swelling had gone, it felt fine, and I was back skiing in October just 6 weeks after the operation.

When I get time I'll relate the story about Mr Bryant's briefcase........

 

Some small minded comments on this. He is a professional footballer and an injury like this is not trivial...Under "Mr Bryant" - a consultant - I think he might have done my carpal tunnel ops....
