You sound like my Mrs. She takes a shred of truth out of something and then embroiders the rest to suit. Show me where it has been said that he goes as far as scouting them.
i said other posters were posting as fact . I dont know if you’re misquoting or not reading properly so to avoid confusion I’ll leave it there .
You stated in a direct reply to me "Your replies in other posts suggest otherwise" That's pretty unequivocal and i can't see how that could be viewed ambiguously. But if you mistyped and there are no examples of me trying to portray something as fact, great, I was pretty sure i hadn't tried to pass anything off as fact. Opinion, like most of us, is all I have, ;-)
Insult as much as you want I’ll put the quote up myself and it’s not as you put but you have form got it.
Your exact words were as follows; “And as I said, we’ll get something back on them if they don’t make it”. No doubts you’ll now claim you meant something other than we’d get something back for them Form for what? Reading your pots and forgetting I’m dealing with someone who changes their mind minutes later?
He stated on record he had scouted ugbo in the Chelsea under 23s and said when he moved to leeds they have a recruitment team where as here he has to take time out to watch potential targets. Or did you just think he had a look at the sheet and chose players at random.
He didn't say anything of the sort about Ugbo. He described the player, but didn't say he had watched him in the Chelsea U23s. He may have been told what Ugbo was like or seen for himself in his first training session. The same with his Leeds interview. He said he was "happy to have a recruitment team here, something he lacked at Barnsley". There clearly was a team of sorts at Barnsley as Hecky wasn't involved in the spreadsheet analysis or transfer negotiations (except for post-Brown, pre-Ganaye). It's a leap to say that meant he was personally scouting players. He wouldn't be the first to exaggerate his role when moving jobs either. You've put your own bits in, exactly like I said. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2017/july/ike-ugbo-signing/ https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co...hire-derby-against-sheffield-united-1-9008053
He said it in a presser with radio sheffield early season. And aren't you just interpreting the Leeds interview and putting your spin on it. Since Wilson managers have always had the final say. Wilson and Johnson both brought in some good players some **** but every signing is a gamble. Hecky has overseen 4 decent signings isgrove pinnock Lindsay and yiadom but we had been after yiadom since lee Jay. He has overseen us sign 5 number 10s and played 3 of them on the wing. He said himself if he just got given players he wouldn't play them. If you think he never saw players play before giving the final say that's your opinion I don't think that happened at all.
I haven't put my own spin on the Leeds quote. I pointed out that we know other people were involved in recruitment at Barnsley.
If it was so simple every club would be doing it. It's basically a massive gamble that we can't afford to keep taking we've made our twenty million it's time to run with the money now coz we're on verve of chucking six million away already.
How many times do you think he saw Thiam or Knaussmullner or Cavare or Pannilos play? Genuine question. I reckon 1 friendly game between all 4 of them. The wouldn’t play them thing is. Red herring. We have loads of players he barely played.
I don't think he went to watch them but I'd like to think he has watched videos of them play. Just same as I hoped Wilson watched Conor and scowern before he signed them. And lee Jay with mawson,Marley Watkins, isgrove and the rest. If it' the case that the manager never saw these players play then we can't give much credit to Wilson or lee Jay they just got lucky really imo.
