It was asking to be abused really, and like someone else said it's seems the club were trying to make it easier for themselves by offloading the tickets quickly.

When we were sorting out Wembley tickets, my mate jokingly said to one of the box office staff "we might have all this to do again if we beat Cardiff"

Her reply "ooooooooh I hope not!"

I did get a ticket, just! Sat in front of me were four young girls. One was obviously a season ticket holder but the other three were friends who never watched a minute of the match and were on hand held game devices. Four adults with them but two of them disappeared about 15 minutes before half time to get food for the girls.
When I think of some season ticket holders with 50 years of following the reds who didn’t get tickets it still does piss me off. Whatever Don ( the internet is the worst thing that’s ever been invented ) Rowing said, they just sold them in the easiest way possible. Four tickets for each season ticket - got them sold in no time.

6000 tickets, 6000 season ticket holders. The Don couldn’t quite manage the maths.

Managed to get in the main stand after the away tickets were sold out - at full time I saw the bloke who sat near me in the Ponty a couple of rows in front of me - we never said anything just looked at each other and smiled :) Ticket arrangement was a disgrace that game - lots of genuine fans missed out

I’ll never forget that game as long as I live from the 10 year old lads asking if we wanted then to ‘look after’ our car on way in to walking back after the game on cloud nine in between disgusted Liverpool fans and barnsley fans dressed as the scouses off harry Enfield

Here’s a few pictures I took with my crappy Sony Ericsson

sadly one of my best mates passed away the night after the match - as a result of someone's negligence

I was actually next in line when they sold out. Gave my contact details to Don Rowing who actually rang me on the day after they announced the "beam-back" to say that someone had returned two tickets as they would prefer to go to Oakwell and did I still want them! He may have made some ****-ups in his time but on that day The Don became God!

I was at the beam back with my brother and his mate who left at half time to go to the pub as he thought we were going to get battered. A mate of mine was there and got kicked out of anfield after about 20 minutes for throwing his losing betting slip. He watched the reaminder of the game in Liverpool pub nearby. We're still not allowed to talk about it with him!

Bet you felt as pleased as I did when I got a call telling me one of the London Tykes couldnt go and did I want the ticket. My Dad ( watched us for over 50 years even then and ST holder since promotion to Prem tried to get tickets for me( also ST holder) and him and failed so I thought I wasnt going.

I was in a meeting with a customer in Norway when I got a call from @Gally asking if I wanted the ticket - fortunately the client is a Liverpool fan ( even flies over for a few games a season)so quite understood why I took the call and had a huge grin when I returned to the meeting.
Was one of my best football days ever!
Only sad thing for me is my Dad didn't go. Was slightly made up for by us watching the Chelsea victory ( and Cardiff defeat) together.
As everyone else says - total **** up on the ticketing side, still the club seem to have learned and operate a much fairer system these days.
