According to Nixon it’s between these 3 for the job. If that’s the case who would you pick ? I’d have to go with Ross.
Cameron Toshack. They're going well in their league. Simpson hasn't been involved in club football for ages management wise and as much as I like the sound of Jack Ross, the Scottish Championship is nothing like this league.
I personally want Grant McCann but can't see them doing business with us. Like the idea of a former player managing as the settling in period isn't as long, managed at a good standard and plays good football. What we need to do it spend money alongside this. Not to the standards of Wolves or Villa but within a top half budget. We've got the money and if we keep the same policy of younger players, we'll struggle again.
Can't see anything wrong with giving up and coming coaches a chance... But fighting a relegation battle this isn't the time to be doing it! I would be all for it if we get to a position where we are stable in the championship but as it is we need some experience.
WOW ! Any of those will not inspire the fan base ! What’s needed is a revolution at the club . Was hoping the new owners were going to try and make us attractive to overseas markets and grow the club . All those sat on their settees on a Saturday watching Jeff Stelling instead of being down at Oakwell aren’t going to bother unless they see the club having a go . I’m disillusioned with football in general but any of the above would feel like a kick in the knackers to me . Season ticket next time ? Not for me !
Simpson on a short term to end of season, if it has to be one of the 3. If he keeps us up, a new contract, assuming MM can't be enticed in the summer. He at least has experience of management & has coached at a high level.
I'm normally pretty chilled on who the club may appoint because at the end of the day if the manager does well he gets a rise or another club if he does poorly he gets the sack. This is normally a 2 year cycle in football management. I feel at the moment P.Harsley should stay with the development squad and learn his trade a little longer.I think the way this season as gone Paul, who I think could be very much from the P.Hecky school of coaching might not have enough about him to inspire the troops. It could be time to employ someone from outside who has fresh but inspiring tactics to galvanise the squad and get them playing a more high tempo attacking game.Whoever gets the job including P.H will get my backing the rest of this season and beyond.
Depending on who is appointed, could see Harsley may get the no.2 role, having a decent knowledge of the first team. New man hasn't a lot of time to play with.
