Just seen this story and whilst happy for them both I am a bit puzzled Surely only one of them can actually be the real dad and if the baby is growing somewhere there has to be a mum or am I missing something? Has medical science advanced further than I thought? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-43062264
If you adopted a child you would class yourself as their dad. I think they are saying that to them it makes zero difference who the biological dad is (if in fact one of them is the real dad or not).
Being a dad is about more than some sperm. Know what you are getting at Farnham, in terms of genetics, but in reality I can't see the problem. Too many kids have parents that are abusive, not there or generally not suited in any way to bringing up a kid (drug addicts, Wednesday fans, etc). This kid will have a very good start in life.
I still happen to believe that children are better off with natural parents . 1 mother and 1 father . But no doubt I’m not allowed to express a view because it doesn’t conform to modern thinking . I’m a bit traditional like that !
Children are better off with parents who love and provide for them. I don't see how the gender or sexuality of the parents is relevant.
As long as the child has someone who loves them and looks after them, I don’t think it matters one bit.
I agree with you that this kid will be well loved by both his dads and I have no problem with the situation at all, I just cant quite work out how there is no mention of an actual mother - even if she wants to remain anonymous.
Probably because what’s the point? We know there has to be one so it would just have a line saying it will be born via a women which is so obvious it isn’t worth saying.
Yes, I kinda got what you were driving at re genetics. I assume this mother has carried the child for a sh!tload of money, but has had to remain anonymous as part of the deal. She may have some contact with the kid, depending what they have agreed on. That would be a wise approach, as the kid would understand as it grew up what had happened & not have to search for the womb provider.
