    A Barnsley 'fan' sat near us that night refused to celebrate the goal because he insisted Redfearn was wrong to shoot and should've passed instead!:D

    I thought this was another Wenger thread.

    I remember this game well but not for football reasons. I travelled over from Blackpool with Winker (posts on here). I was convinced the game was going to be abandoned.

    Just glad we played in all white that afternoon and Derek Bell scored the only goal with a header at our end.:D

    Liverpool replay in the league cup QF. Just shy of 30k in the ground. I think only about 10k saw our goal due to the fog. scored at the spion kop end. News slowly filtered back to us in the Ponty.

    I remember a home game against Rochdale back in 1970 which was badly affected by fog. We were attacking the Ponty End in the second half, when a cross came in from the right (Earnshaw?). It was just too far in front of Johnny Evans, so he threw a punch at it. This resulted in the ball flying into the net. None of us cheered, as we thought Evans was simply being a daft bugger and it was obvious what he'd done. However, it wasn't obvious to either the referee or linesman and a goal was awarded! We won 1-0 that night, but it never seemed like a victory to my young eyes.

    I remember playing Wimbledon in the fog, it was so thick we stood at the front of the old Brewery Stand near the touch line so that we could see at least a bit of the game. David Hirst was a young teenager and giving Vinny Jones a right runaround. When Wimbledon were attacking, Jones tapped Hirst on his shoulder and when he turned around, smacked him straight in the mouth. The ref couldn’t see a thing, only us who were stood about 10yd away saw it. Hirst didn’t do another thing all game and was eventually subbed
