2 lasses (mid 20's) from work with are planning a night out in tarn, they've asked me where to go.

Not living in Barnsley anymore and not going out much in last few years I don't really have much clue. Last time I went to Barnsley I started in White Bear and Bramah and so on....

That still the case? Any youths on here know where to head?

    God I'm old...

As above. The night scene's gone, good venues replaced by ***** like The Soul Lounge, a cattle market for the over 35's.

36 mins on a train to Leeds.

Yeah, I go to York, close to where I live now.

I have said it's not what it was 12/13 years ago but they fancy a change. They usually go round Rotherham/Doncaster so they haven't got high standards anyway....

Wrong site to ask for anything like a balanced sensible view mate. Too many on here have a downer about anything that is Barnsley connected. Don’t know much about the Youth scene but Wife and I always enjoy a night out in Tarn. Don’t go in Soul Bar often but found it to be ok. Usually a good atmosphere upstairs in Jocks Cavern

I’m a town centre resident, shop in town as much as l can rather than Meadowhall, meat from the markets, use the restaurants (1momento etc) but the bars are a big let down, most are shitholes as well. Thank god the new town centre got the go ahead, that should improve the nightlife.

To be fair Archie tarntyje might enjoy most pubs in town and whichever he names you’ll probably dislike, doesn’t make either of you wrong, just different tastes

There are better pubs and bars in Mapplewell and Barugh Green than there are in the town centre, unfortunately.

I would say old number 7, garrison and then I’m struggling, Chambers is now shut. I go to bramahs or silkstone for the ales but wouldn’t rush there! Best idea is go to Leeds that x10 bus is good comes back later than train last bus is 11:30 ish I think

The Garrison, Opium, Jocks cavern are the only pubs I go in if I'm on a night out in town.
