Boris Johnson has warned that British officials could boycott the World Cup if host Russia
is found to have played a part in Russian spy Sergei Skripal and daughter Yulia's poisoning.
He has warned that if Kremlin links were confirmed, " it would be very difficult to imagine"
that our representatives at this summer's tournament could go ahead in the " normal way."
The feeling is that Putin could be further " slighted" if the boycott could be extended to include
Prince William not being allowed to attend the tournament.
If it wasn't so tragic it would be laughable. We exchanged Sergei Skripal for ten Russian spies and
one of them Igor Sutyagin has warned us to be cautious saying " anyone could be behind this, including
North Korea." Probably that might be true were it not for the fact, that this is the thirteenth such incident
around the World involving Russian citizens who have been seen to "offend" their country.
Let's hope that in this case, it's not a radio active substance that's been used. If it's some kind of chemical,
the Medics sound hopeful that they can save the lives of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

TBH the world cup is not what it was, I'm not into international football per se thesedays.
Still BJ threatening Russia with a football tournament is a joke, UK never went off like that when it was under the cold war ..

Not many know this, but what did Russia do about the 4 ambassadors and diplomats who were killed last year in mysterious circumstances?? Or the 2 assassinations in Europe by the isreali govt.
I'm sure if the fsb kgb or whoever were to want a traitor bumped off they'd do it in a much advanced and quieter way.

It's a fkin charade, govts bk to using sport for political reasons . Terrible

No need to boycott they'll be coming home after the group games anyway.

Good excuse to avoid the embarassment though :)

Really not sure boycotting the World Cup is the most appropriate response if the Russians are behind this though

Would prevent all the fat 40-something pissheads from being destroyed by the Russian martial-arts community again, too.

If Russia are behind it, I can see players pulling out. It's bad enough them having to go to a country run by a madman, known for racism and violent hooligans. But if they can poison you on the sly, why would you risk going there. Might as well pull out and put your feet up for an extra month.

IF he was serious and IF he had some b**ls he would ban Russians from buying property and boot out anyone from Russia with a Cyprus EU passport.

Absolutely no chance of players pulling out due to safety concerns.

Everyone is already aware that Russian agents have poisoned people “on the sly”, allegedly. Love the use of that phrase by the way, great work.

Why would Russia try and kill someone they gave away in a spy exchange? Why are we sheltering traitors of another Country? Why are the Police withholding evidence?

Thatcher couldn't get a boycott of the Olympic Games in 1980 and neither will Boris "Buffoon" Johnson get a boycott of the World Cup. A boycott could get all UK teams thrown out of FIFA. I think Johnson need to break his ties with the Russian spy he has been seen out and about with.

Why doesn't Chief Brexiter Johnson impose trade sanctions on Russia? It's time he and many other Little Englanders realise that we are a small insignificant Country now with no International influence like we once had.

Laughing at no official representation at this year's world Cup. The england players haven't turned up for a world Cup since 1970!!!

Err, because we paid him to be a traitor? Wouldn't be good form not to take him back. Lots of countries use spies.
