As it's a public venue, I suggest WHU are suspended from using the stadium. They could always ground share with Leyton Orient?

It helped having Billic in charge, who was held in high regard. The owners have never been liked for stripping the club of it's identity. Any new owner would be better off looking for land near where Upton Park was so the club own where they play.

I could be wrong DB but I thought we'd disagreed over the West Ham ground move a couple of years back. I said it was an appalling sell out that would lost the clubs identity and pi55ed all over their history. You or whoever it was said it was a crucial move to build a future.

They needed to move but a club should always own their stadium. The idea of luxury flats being built on Oakwell would be sickening. Hammers fans likely don't own the ones at their own ground, as it would be too much for them. Arsenal had the same issue. Clubs like Man United and Liverpool do it the best way by looking at ways to extended where they already are.

It seems to be something that several clubs have done but I just don't agree with it. I'd be against moving from Oakwell with every fibre in my body and I suspect the vast majority of West Ham fans felt the same.

I just don't see why a club has to sell off over a hundred years of history to cram a few thousand more fans in, not when they're getting so much money from Sky, sponsorship and commercial streams.

I might be putting emotion before logic but it just feels like money is the only thing that matters now and clubs will sell their history and identity in order to make a few more quid.

Apparently there were no police in the stadium, only stewards and this is always the case because WHU dont own their ground they have to request the police if they want them and they don't. That's according to 606 phone in folk. Is that how it works then? We don't own our ground either, but we never have a say when SYP are involved?

I know that they're not responsible for the corner flags or even the nets, they just turn up and play, almost like how you'd use the Metrodome. Whether the police get involved or not probably comes down to the discretion of the local force, and SYP know they have a good earner going.

Still, "sold a dream living a nightmare"? Precious darlings.

Poor little flowers, can't handle getting beat at home to a Burnley side who are clearly the 7th best in the country and obviously think they've got a right to be challenging for honours with the Chelseas and Tottenhams.

The same halfwits bairning there yesterday wouldn't even be able to get tickets to watch their team if they hadn't moved from Upton Park. As much as the ownership may have acted in dubious ways, it's a pretty disgraceful response. Forcing children to leave the game early? What a set of cowards.

When did West Ham sign James Herriot?

It should be the taxpayers kicking off if anyone.

Just seen it was the 25th anniversary of Bobby Moore's death and that's how they chose to honour it. Nice one.

Set of pricks. There should be a national enquiry into how they were allowed to get the deal they did for that stadium.

I've never really liked West Ham, certainly after the Tevez saga and how they appeared to get off very lightly. I see them as a good, traditional club but one that has done very little for a long time. Media darlings amidst continuous references to some mythical 'West Ham way' and the boys of '66, the way the press seemed to virtually celebrate their return to the top flight in 2012(?) further increased my dislike of them.

However... whilst not necessarily agreeing with certain methods of protest, I'm with them regarding the ownership situation and especially the stadium move. One thing West Ham Utd had that was stronger than most clubs was the community links. West Ham were a proper east end club and whilst their support is now spread more across Essex than Newham and Leyton like times gone by, a trip to the Boleyn really did feel like you were on their manor (sorry if that sounds a little Green St!). To be ripped out of their home, with all the surrounding pubs, cafes and shops suffering greatly, and be plonked in that huge bowl, totally unfit for football, must be very difficult to take. The fact that they got that ground on the cheap I think distracts from the fact that it's an awful venue. Since moving in, various fans have been banned, loads of fans have been forced to move seats without reason, stewards have seemingly been horrendous and the fans have generally been treated with apparent contempt. Now the main reason for moving was that the owners claimed they wanted to significantly invest in the club. Dangling such a carrot appealed to the newer supporters and those who cared more for success than heritage. This investment hasn't occurred and to the fans, it seems that all the bad things about the move are happening, but none of the good.

I repeat, I'm no admirer of West Ham or their fans, but I do share the love of heritage and traditions when it comes to football clubs. In the modern Sky Premier League era, such things are discarded with increasing flippancy. The loyalty of supporters is either taken for granted or even not valued at all and whilst grounds continue to be filled with fans of football, rather than football supporters in the traditional sense, owners will continue to give little consideration to fans' feelings and the heritage of clubs. So in many ways I'm pleased that West Ham fans protested, if nothing else it shows that supporters do have a voice and will use it, rather than gratefully paying £50 and respectfully following the corporate, Sky sponsored modern football pathway.

Protesting is one thing but threatening actual violence to board members and their families is something quite different. Gold, Sullivan and Brady may well be "hate figures" for those so inclined but I think they took it one step further yesterday. It will be interesting to see what the FA/Premier League do to the club. There has to be some kind of punishment but, of course, whatever happens will hit the genuine fans more than the new ones who have jumped on the bandwagon since they moved. It's hard to see them making them play behind closed doors. How will the club refund the season ticket holders who will be missing out on a fixture or two?

Seeing that picture above, posted by Burgundy, made me chuckle but, at the same time, it was a shocking incident. It reminded me of when Jan-Aage did the rugby tackle on that half wit who sprinted across the Oakwell turf trying to get at Gary Willard. You could say that footballers should not get involved in things like that - for one thing they could receive a career ending injury in the process. Even worse, they might get charged with assault on the poor, innocent pitch invader!
