First. It seemed to me that Daniel Farke changed his formation in the second half and boosted his midfield. I didn't analyse it, but that's what it looked like. We seemed to surrender the initiative - something which happened under Hecky on occasions, notably when Big Macca did the same with Ipswich down here. Second, we were absolutely knackered in the second half. Thiam, Moore and McBurnie were all blowing like horses. I'm not complaining because they all put a shift in in their different ways. In my thread yesterday I warned about the likelihood of a heavy pitch, and I think this played it's part. I said Jose would need to make shrewd use of his substitutes, but the fact is that we haven't really got a lot of strength in depth. In the end we were fortunate to hold on for the draw in my view, because I could only see Norwich as being likely winners. Third. After the Forest home game, Red Rain stated his opinion that playing 'bust a gut' football (my term) was not sustainable. I doubted his opinion at the time, but that is what it looked like last night. I don't know whether the players can be got much fitter at this end of the season. Hopefully Neil Harris will not prove as tactically adept as Daniel Farke was last night. With those last four away games I felt we really needed to get a run going last night, so although we increased the gap to third bottom slightly, I still think there is cause for concern. Jose was criticised for going defensive against Hull, but I think that's what we could have done with last night in the second half with so much at stake.
All true. Bad decisions by the manager last night cost us. We all rate McBurnie but he’s got to come off, he was out on his feet for a long time, how the manager can’t see that it was costing the team I don’t understand.
Very thin straws there. I dont like Neil Harris much but he is clearly a decent manager, He has Millwall higher in the table than Norwich with what is on paper an inferior squad
True. At least with Moore if he can’t run, you can play balls to his head & chest. It was killing McBurnie trying to track back with the Norwich right back
My view was that from the kick off Norwich were quite comfortable in the thought that they already had a point and didn't wish to compete. However, finding themselves behind at the break they then upped their game and got a deserved equaliser. Not sure which game some people (in other threads) were at by suggesting we were well on top.
A little irritation I’ve got with Moore is a few times when he got brought down last night and the ref waved play on, he continued to sit there looking around bewildered because he hadn’t got the decision while play carried on, other than that I thought he was excellent last night.
He's quite tidy on the ball for such a big man. Does anyone else worry about (Ohhh!) Oli McBurnie's shins?
So when the forwards have run their collective knackers off why would you not bring both hammill and Izzy on to take the game another 20 yards away from our goal. Say what you want about hammill, he still occupies 2 markers. Unfortunately we haven’t got and are unlikely to find another scowen who can win a tackle and tram 60 yards with the ball very quickly.
