Whichever league we’re in next season to have any hope of any success in the EFL. They have the means, therefore they need to now stop pissing about and buy quality that can compete. This lot would get loved by aqua force right now!
Won’t spend ? Then how do the board progress the club . I know some on here love to revel in the little old Barnsley mindset but I’d suggest they have to spend . Years of neglect has caught up with us unfortunately . That’s not in any way disrespectful to the previous regime but Mr Cryne had a love for the club that wasn’t matched by his resources . This new regime have to spend and I’m sure that will . Mr Lee hasn’t “ invested” to try and make a quick £500 k it’s loose change . There will be a mid to long term plan and it will certainly involve a level of investment not seen before ! You fooking international Redzzz
Correct. It would be much better to start the new campaign in the Championship - but IMO the Championship status will not be viewed as vital by the new owners. Patrick couldn’t afford to be relegated. To the new owners it will be seen as an inconvenience in their plans to see us as a powerful Championship side pushing for promotion. When they said they are not going to spend big money - this to me indicates they are not going to spend 10s of millions. But I’d be very surprised if we didn’t see a few quality young foreigner players at the club in the summer. This could be the case no matter what division we are in. I’ve every confidence that Mr Lee and the board are lining up some exciting times for Barnsley.
If we go down, the likes of Hammill, Isgrove,Moncur Potts, Mallan, Moore, Mcgeachan, would be very useful in our squad
Sheffield United owner is definitely not richer than ours , he’s a Saudi Prince but there’s literally thousands of princes in that part of the world . And what does it matter anyway ? One thing is for certain there will be no success without investment . Investment doesn’t guarantee anything but non investment certainly guarantees stagnation at best and regression at worst !
Without sounding like a broken record we ought to have spent the money on keeping the players last January instead of the old scatter gun approach .
Without also sounding like a broken record , last january & the previous january have gone, we cannot turn the clock back , its the future what counts & lets hope we start to get it right but to keep carping on about the past is pointless , its been done to death , lets move on
Arab Prince... £90m on paper, around 12m of that to spend, much of which he used to buy his way in to the club.
When they took over, the Board said they would fund a push to reach the Premiership but without doing anything " crazy". To achieve their aim, we would need better quality players than we've got now. To provide the money to do that, they would need to somehow grow the present income streams through sponsorship, increased support and marketing, or by digging into their own funds.
Not all of them . I get the houriane sale , when a club like Villa come in with 35k a week it's game over , but the likes of Watkins,Bree,Scowen and Roberts would have stayed for the right money. Instead we replace them with 2/3 inferior players for each position that all added together cost just as much . It's a false economy for sure . We had a team with togetherness and spirit that the fans loved .What have we now? Distant foreign owners who show no real sign of proper investment a foreign manager who for all his positive words knows nothing about us as club or community and players that are either out of their league or couldn't give a **** . The only player that showed loyalty by staying has been bombed out . It's all gone tits up basically . It's Patrick I feel sorry for.
With foreign Owners and foreign Coach this is much more likely than in the past when we were English through and through.
