I am or have been Moncours worst fan over the previous moths but since the arrival of te new management team I feel that moncour has been one of our most improved players
I’m not a great fan of his. Will you be sending the same message to McBurnie, Moore, Isgrove and Potts who all struggle for the last 30 minutes. Over the last month Moncur has played well. Which specific Academy players do you mean?
I’m not a great fan of Moncur’s but I think your dislike of him makes you an unfair judge in this. I think he’s been pretty good for 50 minutes in most recent games. Better than any alternatives that I’m aware of.
I see that he has had the ball and has run at teams, usually to little effect like It infuriates me more as he has talent but no desire whatsoever. Perfect example of a kid having had everything handed to him.
Assisted against Bristol, inches away from scoring at United. And i think he holds the ball well and actually looks to move the ball forward. Think he's played well since coming back in the team. Obviously not an opiniom shared by many on here and I'm not gonna change anyone's mind so I'll leave it at that.
Had to google "hench". I'm far from it. To be honest it's irrelevant if I'm fitter than Chris Froome or I have to wear a muumuu. George Moncur's well paid job necessitates that he has to be able to get up and down a football pitch from three until five on a Satdi afternoon. He seems to give up at about half three. Mind boggling you think that's acceptable because he has a bit of natural talent.
Can’t disagree with any of the second bit. I think his runs and. Lose control in the penalty area have improved our attacking play.
Not sure why he’s only able to play 60 minutes at this stage in the season, but to state that he’s “everything that is wrong with modern football” says a lot more about you than George Moncur.
Given another round of opportunities by Morais and failed to respond imho. The plain and simple fact is that we have not been leading at the point where Moncur has left the pitch in any game under Morais. People go on about Davies costing us points but without even thinking about other games, GM cost us 3 at QPR and 2 yesterday with far more clearly cut calamitous actions. I don't even think his father and the God he worships would call him 'fit' but people then talk about him being 'talented' - I just don't see it. Where is this talent? Is it his talented non-existent range of defence splitting short and long range passing - No Is it his talented rare as hen's teeth powder puff shooting - No Is it his talented floaty set pieces that the rest of the team have to keep him away from - No Is it his talented non-existent goal-scoring ability - No Is it his talented dribbling into dead ends - No Is it the talented way he is 40 yards behind Moore in a role that he has license to be up his arse end in - No Is it his talented way of bringing others into the game by delaying passes and running sideways/backwards - No Is it his talented all(no)-action style - No Is it his talented sloth lack pace - No Is it his talented surrender monkey tackling - No Is it his talented leadership by example - No Best/only use is 15-20 minutes at the end of a game when he can waddle forward a couple of times in a broken field if we're clinging on to 1 or 3 points without using up his rapidly declining 20 minutes of energy. Jeez, I know what would happen to me if I turned up for work at 8am but couldn't manage anything meaningfully productive after 10am and spent the next seven hours alternating between bent over random unnecessary sock-twiddling and double teapot postured wheezing!
He's been here two seasons and doesn't look any better than when he first arrived. The show pony will be one of the first to leave in the summer. I suspect we will find a league one side to take him off our hands and then we will have a thread on here about how he's had a go at us in the press and how we didn't see the best of him at Barnsley and he never settled here.
Maybe I should have phrased it as "an example of everything that is wrong with modern footballers" but the point stands.
That is the real issue. Jose has some difficult decisions to make on Saturday if Potts is injured. Mallan & Moncur don't cover enough ground to play in a 2. They are players with a bit of sparkle, but no graft.
Not seen any sparkle in Mallan to be honest. He's like Hedges - the less he plays the better he gets.
Thought all the players are analysed to death and trained to the peak fitness nowadays . Definitely needs looking at next season whatever league we are in
they wont play in a 2, he will play Gardner behind them if potts is out. The problem will then be our lack of options once they are both nackered after 45 mins.
And there lies the real problem. Lack of fitness/stamina running throughout the team hence the late capitulations. Jose alluded a couple of weeks ago to lack of preparation at start of season. He may have a point.
Whilst I can see your point about him being slightly overweight - for which there is absolutely no excuse, I thought he put in a decent shift yesterday until he obviously tired later in the game. Under normal circumstances (ie no injuries) I would have taken him off instead of Potts (who had a decent game and got injured busting a gut to get forward when Moore had the ball near the touchline). Moncur is a bit of an enigma and maybe needs a different kind of manager to get the best out of him. The midfield certainly looks a lot better with him and Gardner than it did with Gardner and Williams.
Personally I think almost the entire backroom team needs getting rid of. Goalkeeping coach that has coached Davepies from excellent keeper to none league standard, fitness coaches who see half our squad unable to play football for longer than an hour, tactical coaches who haven't been able to teach a group of adults to look in the direction of the thrower when we have a throw in, recruitment team who identified and brought in the shower we see each week.
