Put yourself in Patrick Cryne's shoes post Promotion for a moment. He's been in poor health for some time and has been desperately been trying to sell the club. He's not going to throw money at it he's unlikely to get back is he? All he wanted to do was make us a stable business which he's done. If he'd failed in that would Chien Lee be here now? I think not. Those trying to blame him for our current position should just wind their necks in and think about that for a minute.

    Assumption dressed as fact.

A buyer was found when his unfortunate health circumstances dictated it had to be. So could have been found before

My criticism of the previous ownership has nothing at all to do with Patrick's illness or any perceived lack of effort from him while he was battling that illness. My criticism is that of policies which were put in place before any of this happened as it is these policies which I believe have led to our current position.

The policy of buying cheap budget players that tick boxes for future resale value rather than ability as a TEAM goes back to our time under lee Johnson if not under Danny Wilson.
The policy of running the club on a shoe string and doing the least possible to keep things ticking over rather than attempting to grow goes back a decade.
And without wanting to be tasteless a lot of people voiced concerns over patricks one man ownership with the club running at a loss and being propped up by himself for many years. The fear was that if anything happened to Patrick we would be ******. That club structure imo directly led to the situation which you described in your post.

It is possible to criticise decisions made over a long period whilst also understanding the terrible personal struggle that Patrick and his family had with his illness.

Well, a new owner was found. I know someone who tried 3 times to get involved and was ignored.

So after years of trying to sell the club it was just a coincidence a buyer was finally found so close to the sad passing of our legend?

I don't think anyone is accusing Patrick Cryne of not doing what he thought was best for the club. He stepped up and took it on, he didn't have to, I appreciate that.
But that does not make the decisions that were take above criticism. For me the biggest problem was and maybe still is the "small club" mentality. We should be happy just to have a club, just to be where we are. Ect

You have to separate the two.

I agree with most of this.

The recruitment in the summer was riddled with arrogance. I’ve no idea who’s.

ST that is so spot on. Barnsley FC since the Dennis Family were in charge have adopted this policy; and it's kinda worked. I think

One thing is for sure - its a bloody thankless task owning a football club. If I won the Euromillions 3 times I still wouldn't do it. No matter what you did or how much you spent there would always be someone unhappy that you didn't spend more. Look at Steve Landsdown at Bristol City - takes some right hammer on their board by the more moronic minority whenever things are not going well because of his continued support of LJ and more recently because of their failure to spend big in January when they were top 4. The bloke has thrown millions at Bristol and rebuilt the stadium but some people are never happy.

I’m not going to get drawn in. It doesn’t sit right with me that a man of such integrity and who I hold in the highest esteem is being questioned in this manner.

Especially as he isn't around to defend himself. If people wanted to bring this up they should have in one of the many supporters meetings no need now.

I think the plan goes back to Mark Robins and the reason why he left. He was told of the future and said no thanks. And Why Keith Hill at first turned us down, before saying yep. I think PC had a bit of a rethink after the Flicker great escape season, but then would not be moved from it from Danny onwards.

Integrity? Tell that to the lads who bought isoft. Now, I know you will find that comment abhorrent but if you think about it honestly there is some truth in it.

Well it should be put to bed then. The man only had good intentions for our club and maybe he enjoyed owning us. I had some great times while he was in charge(and some not so great) but questioning him repeatedly while he is no longer here I find abit distasteful.

Making assumptions he could of found a buyer before (going over old ground) let it go. He found a buyer the consortium is worth God knows how many billion. Everyone was over the moon when it was announced let's see if they can walk the walk.
