Can't say I've been his biggest fan in 2018 and as far as i see it he shat all over his own. That being said, if he is a Barnsley fan (like he says) what goes on in his head on Saturday. Presumably he want us to stay up but obviously wants to turn things round for the sake of his career. However, now he has cash in the bank and their season is over could he (justifiably) give a few fringe players a run out/chance? Clutching at every straw going here - but could agent Hecky ironically keep us up?
No chance for any assistance... the guy's already a dead man walking so isn't exactly going to help us hammer a few more nails in.
Not entirely ridiculous tbh. Far fetched maybe, ridiculous - naaa. If you were a dead man walking then wheres the motivation to get results? Just seen your user name - well played.
Micks a Leeds fan though isn't he - technically not identical , but fair point and like I said I was clutching at straws
I think he'll be out to prove a point, that he was right to leave us. However, even if he could, we don't need him to try and throw the game. Leeds are diabolical at the moment and if we can't pick up at least a point then there's no point us being in this division next season.
Was a fan - Back in the 60's, Don Revie days. https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22064/mccarthy-leeds-was-my-club “I was a Leeds fan - Gary Sprake, Paul Reaney, Terry Cooper, Norman Hunter, Jack Charlton, Lorimer, Gray, Giles, Bremner, Clarke, Jones, Madeley. That was the team, that was my team, 67/68 when I was just a young boy. “I was always a Barnsley fan, but Leeds were the top team and they were in Yorkshire. But I’m not a fan any more.”
Doesn't really matter.... we'll probably batter them all the game yet still lose to a poxy fluke, a la Sheffield Wednesday. They may be poor but luck isn't with us right now, and that's what we need. Teams at the bottom don't tend to get good fortune, those at the top do.
That’s the most frustrating thing in all this. On paper we have very winable games - poor Leeds and Forest sides who are comfortably safe along with a Brentford team likely to be on the beach and a Derby side possibly getting prepared for the play offs. Yet I fear 2 draws and 2 defeats. If brum can somehow lose all their remaining games that would see us safe - but I can see them getting a point against QPR.
Beat their first team ? Not a fuckin chance , I despise em but got to say they hammered us 2 0 at Oakwell and they never got out of 2nd gear not sure why all of a sudden we’re going to beat em . I’ve been wrong before but reckon our best chance of points is forest away and Brentford at home . PS Hecky won’t give a flying fook if they win 6 0 he’ll be thinking of his own career first and rightly so !
I’m just making the point why some folk think we’ll beat even their first team ? I know a few dirty Leeds fans and they’re all slating Hecky ( he came from fooking Barnsley so he must be ****) and they’re playing a few youngsters due to injury but I’m sure they’ve got a big enough squad to be able to put a good team out . I just don’t fancy our chances . I was there when we won and Archie and Brendan scored and what a night that was . so who knows
Don't forget we didn't have Moore or McBurnie then. We were relying on lumping it diagonally to Tom "I'm 6 foot tall....no really I am!!" Bradshaw. Saturday will be a much closer contest if not the score line too.
I think he would have done that all over his own if he hadn't taken the Leeds job and secured his immediate future for the benefit of his family and himself. Given that Barnsley failed to match his ambitions, why wouldn't he take a job paying three times the salary, on an 18 month contract instead of the 12 month rolling at Oakwell, to manage for a club drawing crowds three times the size of Barnsley's, with clear Premier League ambitions? As for Saturday, he will be doing his utmost to secure a win for Leeds, and so he should. If Leeds have the patience and foresight to back him he will do well for them in the longer term.
