I wouldnt know where to begin if i was manager.

We have a great young GK in Walton who could be a revelation in L1. Dont know about Davies as he's a confidence player. When hes good hes great when hes bad hes hopeless.

McCarthy, Pinnock and Lindsay and a new LB.

Midfield is just non existent now.

Bradshaw and Moore up front. (who are good with service).

    What a mess :(

Fryers, Pinnock, Jacko, Lyndsay all good enough for a top league one team. Pearson will be decent cover as well. Think if we added another fullback to challenge McCarthy and Fryers (if Pinnoillos isn't up for it that is) then we are sorted in defence. Isgrove, Potts and Moncur all good enough in midfield - think Mallan would also be decent in league one. So would need to add a couple of more defensive minded midfielders and two wingers there. And 2-3 strikers to compliment Moore up front. With a new GK I make that around 9 signings. Hardly a massive rebuild needed. We'll be reyt.

My only worry with Walton as GK is that he may not be physically imposing enough at the moment. Can't believe he is 6 foot. Looks small in comparison to most keepers these days.. Good prospect though.

Agree not a massive overhaul needed and i think we may only need about 6 signings. The most important thing is to get a manager in who can get the best out of these players and is tactically adept.

The problem we have is that we already have a big squad...taking away the likes of Hammill, Yiadom, Townsend & Mills we probably still have 20+ under contract and i cant see us going down the road of bringing signings in until we have got shut of some players first. We already have 4 full backs under contract so cant see that being a position we need to or want to strengthen unless like i say we ship some out first, and the same with the centre backs as well.

Balancing that midfield and bring in a proven goalscorer upfront will be the main focus i hope.

I'd assume none of the out of contract players will stay, I also expect Bradshaw to go as he's in his final year. As are Davies, Moncur, Jackson, Hedges, Cavare and Mowatt.

If we're following the inherited approach, they'll either be sold or sign new contracts (if we want to keep them). Aside from Jackson, and maybe Hedges, I can see them all being offloaded.

If an offer came in from a Championship club, I'd expect to see Moore go too.

I'd look to get as much money back as possible (but would expect a huge write off) for Thiam and then a question of if we try and encourage Pinillos and Fryers to stay. Personally i'd let them both look elsewhere.

That would mean some recruitment, but that our overly bloated completely lopsided squad was trimmed.

I'd want Walton, Mottley-Henry, Brown and maybe Adeboyojo to challenge, and leave a little room for them to break through if they show promise. We need a keeper and some solid fullbacks. The midfield is a mess and we'll likely need 2 strikers on top of that.

So for me, i'd like a lot more outgoings than incomings, a focus on quality not quantity, and opportunity for our own youth, not other peoples loans to make up any difference. I still can't fathom why we brought in Mahoney and loaned out Mottley Henry after his impressive pacey cameo at Villa Park

    Walton

    **** knows - Jackson - pinnock - **** knows

Isgrove - **** knows - potts - hammill (we have the option to extend and are stupid if we don't)

    Bradshaw - Moore

At least three needed to slot straight into the first team plus a considerable number for the bench

Thiam will be a class act next season. If still at club. League 1 defenders watch out.(Mark my words). Minds you I thought Spackman was a good appointment at the time.( One of the worst managers ever.) Lol.

it would be a massive mistake to go with Walton in goal next year (we have no idea how good he really is yet from only a few games) he could turn out to be good but he's not even been on bench much last season, he would be better served as a number two learning from an experienced older GK, sell Davies whilst we can get a fee

What I`d like is a manager with a plan of action and then allow him to assess current squad and what we need.
I would suggest this would be best done by someone who knows the English Football League and the demands they will be challenged with (Macca/Alexander/Maybe Grayson).

But didn`t Hecky go a little time after signing a new contract for " bigger and better things"?

Said this myself. Either the aim is to get Davies back to his best or bring someone in. Walton may turn out to be great but we shouldn't be relying on him that's unfair on him and could ruin him if things went poorly.

Or he signed a contract with a release clause once tapped up?

If Alexander had been on our radar, I'm pretty sure he would've been made aware of it
