Mostly agree with that tbh .
The chants are mostly insignificant to most Forrest fans as they won’t have been there or even in the industry t be fair it would be more appropriate to Mansfield fans.
However it is a chant and aimed at riling the opposition and getting ours going so for all that I’m in .
Most chants are insignificant the monkey chant at Hartlepools for instance but it did happen once they actually hung a monkey during the napoleonic wars so they have to have it I’m afraid .
It’s galling for me because of all the moronic and ugly chants that we dish out this seems to be the one certain posters pick out and imo is the least embarrassing and insulting of lots of other chants eg The Man U airplane one I’ve heard sing or the disgusting one about fergie junior or the red suspenders one and even the vile racist or homophobic ones I’ve heard

I'm not sure that's true, but it is a good story & the only time monkey chanting is appropriate!

Agree with you on that, definitely. As I say I'm not against it, just not one I join in on.

It is true I have it on good authority from a Geordie friend of mine .
They thought it was a French spy so hung it hence the monkey mascot . They’re not very clever north of middlesboro

I quite like Hartlepool. Enjoyed a few aways there. When I had a record shop one of my best customers was a 'pools fan & we happened to be in the same division at the time. Funny little ground, but has atmosphere.

    Googled the monkey story:

I worked with a lot of men in the 60-80s who had served in WWII and my late Father in Law was a RM, "first in last out". That's about all you got out of him except he said "you could never forget the smell of burning human flesh". When I was 15 a workmate told me how he survived a Japanese Prisoner of war camp. He said " I was 17 and looked about 13. A Japanese Officer took a fancy to me and used to tuck me up in his bed". Being so young and naive as I was back then I didn't understand what he was telling me. The Army didn't care then and they don't today. My Brother in Law has PTSD from NI and he has been rewarded by having his benefits stopped. The British Legion can't help him as they have more cases than they have Solicitors to fight their corner. This is not so "Great Britain".

We will get an enquiry in to the strike when and only when JC becomes PM. The lads who were on the picket lines in England, Scotland and Wales have convinced me that Thatcher used the Military. That's why so many were arrested and had there cases dropped when it got to Court.

There are a few facebook pages where you can find everything about the strike and how the Police would knock Women about. The same thing happened during the Steel Strike.

Yes I heard that whilst on the picket lines tbh.
Police uniforms with no numbers , stood away from the main body and these were the ones attacking pickets injuring but not arresting pickets young old male female didn’t matter .
Young rooky cops waiting at hospital been told that they arrested pickets and ready made statements waiting for them to be signed . That’s why cases thrown out but no investigation into why etc etc etc etc etc etc

I think that you are in Jeremy Cuckoo land there .
I don't remember his back benches years heralding miners/steelworkers rites .
But I agree justice needs to be done .
