........... just another name in a long long list of players that have spent time at Barnsley - and we have let go because there was no money at the club. Now he’s playing for England. Spoiling the ship for a penny worth of tar. Hope those days are gone.
Are you on spice again? So what? It happens. Fergie let Gerarrd Pique and Paul Pogba go. Chelsea let De Bruyne Salah and Lukaku go Southampton sold Bale Harry Kane and Yaya Toure were at Arsenal
We were actually in administration when he left, because it looked like the club might close. It wasn't a contractual issue ffs. Spoiling the ship ? The fcking ship nearly sank.
Learn summat new everyday - I didn't know he had been with us. As others have said though, it happens. Imagine holding onto everyone....just in case - we'd have around a thousand players on our books now....you know....just in case.
We should have kept him according to Nudger , to be fair we could keep every 9 year old who comes through our youth system & never release any , its the way forward ! However , we may have to build a complex the size of Butlins to house them all , I despair sometimes
We should have kidnapped Jordan Rhodes as well or enslaved him into the academy till we sold him. Bloody parents moving to better their lives it should be stopped
I'd like to see a list of all the players that have come through our academy to look where they are now. Plenty that have gone on to do bugger all so works both ways. It's easy in hindsight to say someone is now a great player and we shouldn't have let them go, but they all develop at different rates and there are probably players that looked more promising then hit a wall. It's not an exact science.
You know when I said....... ‘there was no money at the club’. And then you said ....... ‘it wasn’t that - it was because the club went into administration’. Do you want to take another run at this ???
Yeah I thought I might not have got it. Your 'spoiling the ship' remark is a saying that actually means don't scrimp on something and spoil it. In what possible way could that be applied to BFC operating under the auspices of an administrative order ? It was this 'not scrimping' to use your parlance that got us into administration. Your point was that Maguire left because we somehow wouldn't pay enough to keep him. We couldn't. He was 9 years old. And we were in administration caused by a combination of a reduction in income and previous spending. Run at it again if you want, I'm sure you will because being seen as insightful and correct seems to be your overriding motivation. Crack on, but in this instance you were as wide of the mark in your original assertion as its possible to be.
