What an absolute load of ********. That's two tournaments in the USA and three in Mexico since 1966. The alleged reason for Qatar and Russia was taking the World Cup to new frontiers. Distance between the furthest stadiums 3000 miles! Even in Russia it's only 1800 between Kaliningrad and Ekaterinburg.

Trump is after the world one kick championship but needs to getting cracking on the wall, rumours are Mexico may put in a cheeky late bid.

How utterly and completely unsurprising. A much bigger money pot for FIFA to dip their grubby little hands in.

Peace in Korea, unemployment down and now a second world cup in 32 years. America looking good with Trump in charge :D Ridiculous decision. Big believer that only countries that can host a world cup on their own should ever have it. It should never be shared between countries.

How about a UK & Eire bid ?
The costs would be minimal as all the countries are already stocked with quality stadia. You could have a 132 team tournament which would need 16 grounds and still have plenty. BTW I'm not suggesting that is good idea.

I actually think a British bid for 2030 is a great idea. If you can't beat them....

Enough in England to do the world cup on our own. USA have such a good relationship with both Canada and Mexico I don't know what could go wrong.....It will be stupid if all three get a free pass to the tournament just for hosting.

The downside of England hosting the tournament would be not having to qualify. Qualfication is the only time the supporters ever get to see them win!

If there was a UK and Ireland bid then I'm not sure how they could let 5 teams automatically qualify.

So would you rather it have gone to Morocco?

Given that they've awarded 2022 to Qatar. And we all know why I'd say on a football basis Morocco have a much more legitimate claim. The only legitimate problem with the Morocco bid in my eyes would have been security.
Instead they've given it to a country who can't muster a decent enthusiasm for football despite multiple attempts. Again.
And again, we all know why.

Absolutely. It's easily accessible from Europe it's their 5th bid, and the USA held it not that long ago on the grand scale of things.

Fairly sure footy is popular in Mexico but take your point.

It's crazy we haven't had any major football tournament for 22 years given that we have the biggest league in the world.

Id rather it went to USA, Canada and Mexico than Morocco, though. Infrastructure not in place, for starters.

Agreed. Don't know much about the Moroccan infrastructure, it's undoubtedly sub standard at the moment. Lack of infrastructure didn't stop them awarding it to Qatar, South Africa though; or Brazil where they built a white elephant stadium up the Amazon.
It just annoys me that they spout on about spreading the gospel around the world when in fact they're only interested in spreading it where the money is. It's like the Premier League writ large. Or should I say even larger.

I truly believe Trumps main objective is to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Doubt he'll be bothered much
    about the World Cup.

They are unbelievably corrupt and need to be disbanded with a new organisation and new officials in place. I doubt much has changed from the days of Sepp.

I'd hope we get 2030 but i wouldnt hold my breath.

Nope. They don't like us. Partly because we no doubt come across as superior and patronising though when you see the hideous corruption involved its hard not to.
Equally they don't like us highlighting how corrupt they are. The english press went after Blatter for years and years.
And finally, if they awarded us the tournament we'd have an infrastructure mostly in place and a culture less susceptible to all the grubby little deals and kick backs that float around elsewhere.
Watched a video this week of the head of the Ghanaian FA and second in command of African football shoving bundles of notes into a black plastic bin bag.

I dont' the distances is unusual - just look at teh spread of Stadiums for the Brazil world cup - Manaus to Porto Alegre is over a six hour flight - that's like from London to Dubai.

I do agree it's absolute ******** - getting beyond a joke - especially if three teams automatically qualify? That makes it all bit ******** - plus the 48 teams - thats 1/4 of the countries in the world making it to the finals...hardly "finals" is it.

I reckon England should launch a joint bid with Scotland, Ireland Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibralter, The Falklands and Eritrea.

Well if it doesn't come to Western Europe in 2030 then it will mean by 2034 it will have done so only once in more than 30 years since the turn of the millenium. You would have to think that, IF things were equal, we would have a realistic chance if we put in a bid.

And if we lost out I would hope we'd never spend money again on the whole corrupt charade.
